5-7-17 Bulletin - First Christian Reformed Church

WELCOME TO THIS SERVICE OF
WORSHIP! In the spirit of the psalmist who
said, “I will sing and make melody to the Lord”
(Psalm 26:12), let us join together in song and
prayer and waiting upon the Lord that we may be
refreshed in the Spirit and encouraged for the
week ahead.
After the morning service, join together in the
Fellowship room for refreshments.
-OUR CHURCH IN WORSHIP –
TODAY, DURING THE SUNDAY SCHOOL
TIME - Shelley Zimmerman from Love INC of
Newaygo County will lead a session to help us
further process all we've learned through
Redemptive Compassion by giving us a picture of
how those principles are practices at Love INC
and by challenging us to put those principles into
practice in our congregation's ministries.
THIS EVENING, our evening worship service
at 6:00 will include a message on prayer and a
time where we will be led through a series of
prayers centered around 4 topics: crops and
industry, our nation and world, church and
community, and families. We are looking
forward to this special worship time. The Bible
encourages us to "pray without ceasing," meaning
that we are called to lives of prayer. We are
blessed to live in a nation that not only allows but
encourages us to pray.
NEXT SUNDAY EVENING we welcome Rev.
Mark Stephenson with Disability Concerns to our
pulpit.
THE LOOP SYSTEM is available in the
sanctuary for those who are in need of hearing
assistance.
CHURCH BULLETINS: If you need a larger
print bulletin, please let the secretary know.
Children’s bulletins are on the shelves in the
narthex.

GRIEFSHARE - The GriefShare website gives
us lots of information about what other groups are
doing and how they function. After prayerful
consideration, the GS team has decided to ask the
congregation if there is anyone who would be able
to knit or crochet a "prayer blanket' (around 30
inches by 53 inches). We would like to be able to
give each participant a blanket at the end of the
program. There are many other churches that do
this and we felt it would be another way of
showing God's love. IF you are willing to help us
out in ANY way with this project (knitting,
crocheting, donations of money, yarn or prayer),
please contact Marian Breuker (924-0478) for
more information. Thank you so much.
MOTHER'S DAY is the perfect day to honor
those who gave us the gift of life. If you would

special mom for choosing life, place their name
on the list in the narthex and enclose $2 for each
name. They will be placed in the Hi-Lites on
Mother's Day by Newaygo County Right to Life.
Every life is precious and designed by God.
