Syllabus:
Review of the main modalities of medical images - Radiological Images, Ultrasonography, Magnetic
Resonance Images, and Nuclear Medicine. Principles of Digital Images: Pixels, Voxels, Connectivity,
Brightness, Space Resolution, Contrast, Histogram and Levels of Quantization. Transformation of
Intensities - Equalization of Histograms; Spatial Filtering - Low Passes (Smoothing) and High Passes
(Edge Enhancement). Gradient Calculation - Contour Detection; Introduction to Segmentation Threshold Segmentation, Growth of Regions and Active Contours; Introduction to Tomographic
Reconstruction - Simple back projection; Introduction to texture descriptors - Co-occurrence Matrix
and Hu-moments; Applications of concepts in medical image processing.
Recomendation:
