The 2017 Canada Summer Games will be held in Winnipeg August 5-13 2017. Coaches must be able to attend both of these competitions to be considered for the 2017 Canada Summer Games Head and Assistant coaching positions. The 15/16U Indoor Female and Male programs will compete in the 16U division at the 2016 National Team Challenge Cup in Richmond, BC (female) and Kingston, ON (male). Description of Coaching Positions. 17U/18U Head and Assistant Coach– 2016 NTCC and 2017 Canada Summer Games. Responsible for the delivery of the 17/18U program at the 2016 NTCC Championships and the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Manager - 2016 NTCC and 2017 Canada Summer Games. Responsible for managing the team from the start of the identification process in 2016 through to the conclusion of the 2017 Canada Summer Games. This position may not be required to travel to the 2016 NTCC Championships. Advanced Development Apprentice Coach – Support the coaching staff of the 2016 NTCC and 2017 Canada Summer Games. The apprentice coach is not required to travel to the 2016 NTCC Championships and will not be part of the official delegation for the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Volleyball Manitoba will pursue other options to have the apprentice coach candidates involved at the games through other means where possible. 15U/16U Head and Assistant Coach-2016 NTCC Responsible for the delivery of the 15U/16U program at the 2016 NTCC Championships in Richmond BC (female) and Kingston ON (Male) Development Apprentice CoachSupport the coaching staff of the 2016 NTCC Championship. The apprentice coach is not required to travel to the 2016 NTCC Championships. Duties and expectations will include but not be limited to: Head Coaching candidates will be consulted in the selection and appointment of assistant and apprentice coaches as well as manager (assistant coach and manager candidates must submit applications to Volleyball Manitoba). Involvement in athlete identification, including scouting at Volleyball Manitoba Events and conducting other talent identification during the months February - May 2016. Organization, planning and execution of summer training schedules and yearly training plan in cooperation with the Provincial High Performance Coach and Sport Manitoba Performance Centre professionals. The supervision and monitoring of athletes throughout the identification, training, competition and off season as required. The preparation and leadership of a team at the 2016 National Team Challenge Cup and/or 2017 Canada Summer Games. Qualifications Registered member in good standing with the Manitoba Volleyball Association Familiarity with the Long-term Athlete Development model for Volleyball in Canada Current vulnerable sector screening, child abuse registry & criminal record check All 17U/18U head coach candidates must be fully certified (theory, technical and practical) under the NCCP to at least Level 2, or Advanced Development Indoor stream. NOTE: The Head Coach on the official registration form for the Canada games must be fully certified (theory, technical and practical) under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) to at least Level 3, or Performance Coach certified in the new NCCP (Competition Stream, Development Context). Therefore, the successful candidate will need to complete their Level 3/Performance Coach certification no later than 120 days before the opening of the Games (January 30th, 2017) Assistant Coaches for the Canada Games staff must be fully certified level 3 or Performance Coach th trained no later than January 30 , 2017. All 17U/18U assistant coach candidates must be fully certified (theory, technical and practical) under the NCCP to at least Level 2, or Advanced Development Coach Indoor stream “In Training”. All 16U head and assistant coach candidates must be fully certified (theory, technical and practical) under the NCCP to at least Level 1, or Development Coach Indoor stream “In training”. All Advanced Development Apprentice Coach candidates must be fully certified under the NCCP to at least Level 1 or Development Coach Level. Preference may be given to those who are in the process of attaining Advanced Development Coach status or hold Level 2 certification. All Development Apprentice Coach Candidates must be in the process of attaining Development Coach certification. Preference may be given to those who hold Level 1 or Development Coach certification. Experience developing short and long-term athlete/team training plans All Coaches must possess a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and a willingness to travel within and out of the province/country as required. Selection Criteria: Selection criteria will include and may not be limited to the following: Teaching ability and training methods Ability to support and encourage athletes Knowledge level of volleyball strategies and tactics. Knowledge level and teaching methods of volleyball skills Ability to work with others in an Integrated Support Team (IST) or multi-disciplinary environment. Experience working in the 18U or 16U age category NCCP Certification Experience working in Volleyball Manitoba or Volleyball Canada programs Experience mentoring other coaches/individuals A demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development Volleyball Manitoba will review the 2017 Canada Games coaching staff and program plan at the completion of the 2016 season and reserves the right to replace any or all members of the staff should the program not meet the expectations set forward by Volleyball Manitoba and its funding partners.
