Indians speak?

 4 out of 10 Indians
speak Hindi. In Hindi
hello is namaste. Yes is
haan. No is nahi.
Friends is dost. Hindi is
one official launguage
of India.
What games do Indians
play?

 Indians like the game
chess. Most Indians
start to play when they
are very young. Indians
also enjoy soccer and
field hockey. The game
kabaddi is played by
Indian men. Indians
also play cricket, which
is like baseball.

 Indians play the game
volleyball, just like
Americans! Dabba icepais is kind of like hideand-seek. Lagori and
gilla-danda are also
played in India. Did you
know, that chess and polo
started in India? Indians
play basketball,
badminton, and tennis
too!
What clothes do Indians
wear?

 Indian women often
wear clothes called
saris. Men wear dhoti
and lunghi. Women
and men can wear a
kurta. A kurta and
some pants gives you a
salwar kameez, an
Indian outfit.
What are some Indian
dances?

 A lot of Indian dancers
preform in fancy
costumes. They tell
stories through
movement. Indian
dance styles change
from region to region.
Some tell stories.
Others entertain
audiences.
What instruments do
Indians play?

 Some Indians play the
sitar and the tanpura.
They look like a long
guitar. India can often
be called the land of
drums because there
are so many used in
Indian music. The raga,
tala, and drone are part
of Indian music.
What foods do Indians
eat?

 One of India’s famous
dishes is called curry, a
spicy stew. Where they
live and what they
belief tells you what
they eat! Northern
Indians eat more meat
than Southern Indians.
Cinnamon, ginger, and
garlic are used in lots of
Indian meals.
What are some Indian
holidays?

 Many Indian holidays are
in the hindu religion.
Diwali is a festival of
light. Holi is a festival of
color. Muslim Indians
celebrate Islamic
holidays. Ramadam is a
holiday that lasts 30 days.
Indians also celebrate
Christmas just like us!
