This examination is comprised of questions on the Laws of the Game and aspects of game
management that are applicable to the role of the referee during a match. The examination is primarily
used as part of the assessment for candidates for Level 1 referee accreditation, although any individual
may undertake the examination.
NOTES:
1. All questions assume there is no advantage (unless otherwise specified)
2. All questions refer to Senior Law unless specifically identified as otherwise (i.e. U19 Laws).
3. There are also questions relating to information provided in the Foundation Course material.
4. The Law or other reference for each question is shown to the right of each question.
5. All questions are based on 2010 Laws.
6. Law books and notes may be used when completing the examination.
7. Laws of the Game and other resources are available on line at http://tinyurl.com/rugbylaws2010
8. There are multiple choice, true/false and ‘mix and match’ questions.
9. There is only one correct answer for each question.
10. All questions are worth one mark each and the pass level for the examination is 90%.

• Section 4 – Laws 11, 13, 18, 21, 22

12. Once you have completed the exam you will need to submit the answer sheet (located at the back
of the examination paper) to the Referee Manager / Referee Development Officer in your state for
marking.
13. You should retain the question paper for future reference and for follow up in relation to the exam.
The structure of this examination has been adopted to enable the exam to be undertaken on-line. If you
wish to complete the examination in this manner you should contact your state Referee Manager /
Referee Development Officer.
