GCSE structure - Food
The examination board is AQA. Each course
consists of the following elements:
• Coursework: worth 50%. Two projects: a food
investigation project and a nutritional project.
• Examination: worth 50%. A one and three quarter hour
paper that tests your subject knowledge.
These subjects develop key life
skills and equip you with
the knowledge and confidence to problem solve,
experiment and analyse.
Skills that you will use
everyday even if you decide not to pursue a design based
activity as a career choice.
KS4 Food & Nutrition ....

GCSE structure – 3D and Textiles Design
The examination board is AQA. Both of these GCSE subjects
are coursework based – there is no written examination.
You will be required to complete two pieces of extended design work linked to your
subject area. One theme is chosen by you and the other by the examinations
board. Each project must meet the requirements of the assessment objectives.
You must show that you can do extended research. That you can critically analyse
your own work and the work of others. You will need to produce sketchbooks of
work that shows a variety of skills and culminates in a final design that is innovative
and creative and reflects your chosen theme.
These subjects develop key life
skills and equip you with
the knowledge and confidence to problem solve,

What happens after my GCSE
If you are successful in either Art, 3D Design or Textiles at
GCSE then you might wish to join us for an ‘A’ Level in
Art
and
Design.
An exciting opportunity to experiment with design
through the development of portfolio’s of work that
culminate in either a three dimensional focus piece
or a fabric based piece of design.
The course has no theory examination and you show
your knowledge through your portfolio presentations.
