ALGEBRA I COURSE SYLLABUS Teacher: Mrs. Ritter Room #: N207 Phone Number: (610) 779-3060 ext. 2707 Email: [email protected] Major Assessments: A test or quiz will be given periodically through a unit. All test/quizzes will be announced a head of time and will be written on the board as a reminder. Mrs. Ritter will also review with you prior to any test/quiz and will let you know exactly what you need to study. If you would like to receive additional help before a test or quiz, please come to see Mrs. Ritter in advance so we can set up some time to work with each other. Please give Mrs. Ritter at least one day’s notice to set up some extra time to receive help. All tests/quizzes will be assigned a point value based on the number of the questions and topic given. Grading Policy: All assignments will be graded on different point values. Tests and quizzes can range from 50 to 100 points. Homework assignments range from 2-5 points. Classwork will also be graded periodically. Classwork can range from 5 to 50 points in value depending on the assignment. If you fail to turn in an assignment, you may still turn it in late to receive half credit. You will have one week to turn in late assignments. Failure to turn in late assignments after one week will result in a zero. Homework Policy Homework assignments will be assigned periodically throughout the week. Your assignments will be based on whatever was learned in class that day. You will be graded on whether you tried and put forth effort. We will correct homework the next day in class. If you fail to turn in your homework, it will result in a zero. Homework assignments range from 2-5 points. Extra Credit Periodically throughout the marking period, you may receive opportunities to receive extra credit points. Many times, we will play review games. This is an excellent time to try to receive some extra credit points. In addition, Mrs. Ritter may at times hand out extra credit/challenge problems that you may try to complete to receive extra credit. Academic Commitments You will be expected to complete your homework when assigned. In addition, tests/quizzes will be announced and posted in the classroom so that you have plenty of time to study at home. If you still would like to receive extra help from Mrs. Ritter, it is your responsibility to schedule some time at least one day before the date/time you wish to meet. Make-Up Work Policy If you are absent or have missed class, it is your responsibility to see Mrs. Ritter so you know what you have missed. Mrs. Ritter may require that you make up your missed work. Depending on how long you were absent, Mrs. Ritter will assign you a due date for your missed work. Math Standards that will be addressed this year: 2.1.A1.C.
