Education/Workforce Development
In partnership with business, education,
community development, government,
philanthropy leaders, and community residents
and workers we are pursuing an initiative to
strengthen the Latino community while
transforming local economies through the
development and implementation of
comprehensive and innovative workforce and
education strategies. The major thrust of our
initiative is comprised of linkages between
lifelong learning, workforce development,
access to and expansion of critical resources,
and multiple service delivery models. Providing English language learning is a central
operating focus on the department, but what is critical is connecting these skills to others
needed for successful work, family and community life.
ESOL Workplace Home Health Care Program
La Alianza Hispana is the educational partner of home health care aide trainees and employees
from Guardian HealthCare and The Caribbean Foundation. This contextualized ESOL
curriculum integrates the terminology and context of home health aide activities with the
language acquisition to improve patient and provider communication and customer service. It
adds to the employers’ benefit as these employees and trainees become bilingual and expand
the level of service rendered to the home bound patient customers in need of this support.
