Rathowen Storm Warning Memorial Perpetual Trophy – Sponsored by The Spinks Family The Spinks Family were lucky enough to purchase Rathowen Storm Warning - affectionately known as "Bubba" in March 2013 and brought him home to Darwin as the perfect schoolmaster for their daughter, Ella Spinks. He was one of the most decorated show Galloway’s to come to the Territory, qualifying for Grand Nationals every year of his life from the age of 3, and winning ribbons and garlands in every State and Territory across the country (except for WA and Tasmania). He was the ultimate show horse, coming alive as soon as he entered the arena with a spring in his step and a sparkle in his eye. There could have been no better teacher for Ella; it wasn't always easy but always rewarding. One of his last shows with the family was Darwin Royal 2015 where he won Supreme Ridden Exhibit, what a fitting end to a spectacular career. Bubba sadly lost his battle with laminitis and was laid to rest in June 2015, taking a little piece of many people's hearts with him. Vale Bubba. Koot as he was affectionately known was a very special and lovable horse to everyone that knew him. Koot became a member of the family when Michael bought him in 1988 as a 2yr old. Michael bought him to compete in Western Riding Events, but Koot’s versatility soon came apparent and the Cunnington family found his special forte was competing in Showjumping Competitions. Six Bar competitions were his favourite events, winning many open competitions. His Showjumping career was very colourful, winning Championships in a majority of shows. With Teresa on board providing guidance, Koot was always a crowd pleaser. This little chestnut quarter horse had a heart of gold, even if he was tired he would still give a 110%. Koot only stood at 15.2hh, but his talent and love for jumping made him a formidable opponent for the other larger competitors. He was sired by Speck Deck Leo and his Dam was Dakota Filly. He was foaled on 13th August 1985. Koot was laid to rest 19th October 2007. A vet check showed he suffered from Navicular Disease, but it was age that finally got the better of him. What a wonderful horse he was. Vale Kootie. Class 177 OPEN Two Round CHAMPIONSHIP (1m starting height) Art. No. 273.2.1., Art. No. 273.3.1. & Art. No. 273.4.3.
