Division/Department: Boettcher Teacher Residency Urban Field Team Location: 600 Grant Street Suite 525, Denver, CO 80203 Job Title: Clinical Instructor and Field Coach Full-time position Reports to: Associate Director-Urban Cohort Start date: June 8, 2015 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) is a Colorado-based 501(c)3 organization that provides professional development services for practicing educators locally and nationally, and operates the Boettcher Teacher Residency (BTR) for training well-qualified new teachers for high-needs schools. PEBC’s mission is to drive cutting-edge teaching practices, and inform and provoke the public, to improve education for all. The Boettcher Teacher Residency (BTR), now in its twelfth year of operation, is an innovative and intensive supervised residency approach to teacher preparation, designed to significantly improve student learning by preparing new teachers to become highly effective and committed educators for high needs schools and districts. This program, through the generosity of the Boettcher Foundation, provides top college graduates, career changers, and those with teaching licenses with tuition-assistance and a master’s degree from Adams State University; and combines course work with intensive, mentor-guided, field experiences, culminating in a teaching position at one of the program’s partner districts. In return, Boettcher Teachers commit to teaching in one of the program's partner districts for a minimum of five consecutive years including the residency year. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Clinical Instructor/Field Coach works collaboratively with the rest of the Urban Field Team to support Residents during the residency year. This position will participate in coordination and supervision of residents while co-facilitating and co-planning instruction, and observing and coaching of residents. This role involves a variety of skills in instructional coaching, teacher evaluation and higher education instruction. Major responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: The Clinical Instructor and Field Coach for the Urban Field Team collaboratively and independently plans and facilitates BTR Resident Seminar for both online and in-person instruction. He or she grades and provides feedback on Residents’ master’s degree/residency work, serving as adjunct faculty for residency-integrated seminar courses. The role includes planning and facilitation for Mentor Seminar and planning, coordination, and implementation for Resident Orientation. This role requires the ability to provide high-quality graduate level instruction to master’s degree students in the Boettcher Teacher Residency and to support a rigorous theory-to-practice model of instruction. The Clinical Instructor and Field Coach for the Urban Field Team provides support to the entire BTR program by supporting Resident selection, supporting recruitment and candidate interviews, and participating in BTR and PEBC events. Additional responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students and have K-12 public school teaching experience as well as instructional coaching experience, including coaching, consultation, and evaluation skills. Candidates should have a deeply held belief in and value for public education, knowledge of the challenges educators and students face in high-needs schools today and a passion for development of effective teachers. Additional qualifications include strong higher educational instruction and facilitation skills and ability to work with adult learners, collaborative planning skills (long range and daily planning), including demonstrated experience with backward design. He or she must possess effective conflict resolution skills and ability to have difficult conversations, an ability to be highly collaborative, team oriented, and share responsibility; an asset-based orientation, growth mindset, and the ability to be self-reflective. Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective problem solving skills; flexibility and comfort with ambiguity; and an ability to embrace and demonstrate parallel pedagogy and rigorous higher education instructional models are also requirements of the position. The dispositions of curiosity, the ability to hold multiple perspectives, and the skills to foster relationships with students, teachers, and administrators across multiple institutions are crucial. Finally, additional needs of the role include the ability to prioritize effectively and balance responsibilities in a fast-paced and demanding work setting, strong organizational skills; adaptability with technology and an ability to be trained in multiple software and learning platforms (Canvas, webinar software, Google docs, MS suite, etc). EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Master’s degree in education, or linguistically diverse education, or an equivalent required; COMPENSATION Salary commensurate with experience.
