2013 SPARTAN BASEBALL
SUMMER CAMPS
DIRECTED BY: Dave Nakama, Head Baseball Coach, San Jose State
AGES 6-12 YEARS – BEGINNERS TO EXPERIENCED PLAYERS (BOYS AND GIRLS)
SPARTAN BASEBALL SCHOOL
Players will be grouped by age. Program emphasis will be on individual skills, fundamentals, and beginning team strategy. Areas covered
will include outfield play, infield play, pitching, rundowns, base running, sliding, double plays, and much more. Check in and all instruction
will be held at the San Jose State Varsity Baseball Field (Blethen Field). San Jose State’s “state of the art” batting cages and pitching
machines will be used and all campers will hit each day. Coach to camper ratio is 1 coach for every 10 players. All campers will receive a
San Jose State Baseball t-shirt.
SPARTAN GAMES CAMP
The skills learned in Baseball School will be put into game situations. Each team will have 9 players and will play together and be coached
by the same coach all week. 50% of each session is devoted to games and the other 50% to hitting in batting cages and viewing baseball
instructional videos. Games will be played at Blethen Field and adjoining grass fields. YOU MUST ATTEND A SPARTAN BASEBALL SCHOOL
SESSION THIS SUMMER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND THE GAMES CAMP. YOU MAY ATTEND THE BASEBALL SCHOOL AND GAMES CAMPS THE
SAME WEEK.
EQUIPMENT: Campers must provide their own glove, shoes and suitable baseball attire (either baseball pants or sweats/long pants).
REGISTRATION: There will be a limit to the number of campers in each session. Session enrollment has filled to capacity quickly in past
years, so please return your application at the earliest possible date to be assured a spot. For further information call (408) 924-1262
