2012 Teacher Evaluation Reference Sheet Professional Practices (50 Points) 21 Points: Observation based on 7 Performance Appraisal Dimensions (FEAP and BPS) Quality of Instruction Instructional design and Lesson Planning (3 Points) Learning Environment (3 Points) Instructional Delivery & Facilitation(3 Points) Assessments (3 Points) Professional Responsibility, Conduct, and Relationships Professional Responsibility and Ethical Conduct (3 Points) Relationships with Students (3 Points) Relationships with Parents and Community (3 Points) 10 Points: Professional Growth Plan (PGP) 8 Points: Professional Growth Plan Implementation 8 Points: Collaboration & Mutual Accountability 3 Points: Alignment – Professional Practices with Student Performance An average of each school’s Professional Practice scores and each school’s Student Performance scores will be calculated. The Professional Practice averages for all schools, by level (Elementary, Middle, High), will be ranked from highest to lowest, and the Student Performance scores for all schools, by level, will be ranked from highest to lowest. Each school’s relative rankings will then be compared. Points will be awarded based how close the rankings are. Student Performance Components (50 Points) Value Added Measures 35 Points: Value-Added Measure (VAM) of Student Achievement/Growth Four Categories of Scores TAV (Teacher Aggregated VAM Score): Score generated from the students of the teacher that teaches an FCAT Reading or Math type course. 1st year teachers (hired as of 2011-12) that teach an FCAT Reading or Math type course. 2+ year experienced teachers that have taught an FCAT Reading or Math type course for at least two out of the three years NFTAV (Non FCAT Teacher Aggregated VAM Score): Score generated from the students of the teacher that does not teach an FCAT Reading or Math type course BUT has students that have FCAT Reading or Math scores associated to them. Any teacher that HAS NOT taught an FCAT Reading or Math type course for at least two out of 3 years BUT has students that take the FCAT Reading or Math. SAV (School Aggregated VAM Score): Score generated from all students within the school that have FCAT Reading or Math scores associated to them. Any teacher that has not taught an FCAT Reading or Math type course and have no students that take FCAT Reading or Math Any teacher that qualifies to receive a TAV or NFTAV but have fewer than 8 students associated with either calculation. DAV (District Aggregated VAM Score): Score generated from all students within the district that have FCAT Reading or Math scores associated to them. All teachers assigned to the district office who are not associated with a specific school All scores VAM scores are converted to one of Brevard’s 35 point scales (Elementary, Middle, High, and Alternative School Site) 5 Points: Collaborative Team Student Growth of Lowest 25% in Reading and/or Math using VAM Student Growth Prediction Measures Four Categories of Scores Teachers on Collaborative Teams with students that take the FCAT Reading or Math. Students on collaborative team will be compared to peer students in the same grade not assigned to a team Teachers will receive aggregated scores across discipline (reading and math) and across school grade levels based on THEIR team students. o o o o o o 5 points = team score 6+% higher than school grade peers. 4 points = team score 3 to 5 % higher than school grade peers. 3 points = team score 0 to 3% higher than school grade peers. 2 points = team score -1 to -3% lower than school grade peers. 1 point = team score -4 to -6% lower than school grade peers. 0 points = team score -7+% lower than school grade peers. Must have at least 8 students assigned to their collaborative team. Teachers on Collaborative Teams without students that take the FCAT Reading or Math. Two Options o School wide Lower 25% student population comparison to the Upper 75% student population. Scores distributed using above scale. o Have Principal assign collaborative teams points based on specific target goals and population outcomes associated with these goals 5 pts. = if 80% or more of the collaborative team’s student cohort scored at expectation or above 4 pts. = if 70% to 79% of the collaborative team’s student cohort scored at expectation or above 3 pts. = if 60 % to 69% of the collaborative team’s student cohort scored at expectation or above 2 pts. = if 35% to 59% of the collaborative team’s student cohort scored at expectation or above 1 pt. = if 20% to 34% of the collaborative team’s student cohort scored at expectation or above 0 pts. = if 19% or less of the collaborative team’s student cohort scored at expectation or above Teachers associated with a school but who were not assigned to a collaborative team. School wide Lower 25% student population comparison to the Upper 75% student population. Teachers at the District (ESF) who were not on a collaborative team and not associated with a specific school. Director will assign point scores based on specific target goals and population outcomes associated with these goals District-Option Measures 5 Points: School Improvement Plan: Scores assigned by the Area Superintendents (or ESF Supervisor). Every teacher within a school (or district department) will receive the same score. Implementation (2 Points) Outcome Indicators (3 Points) 2 Points: Professional Growth Plan (PGP) Outcomes Each teacher is responsible for meeting their individual PGP target(s) as determined by the Principal Principal from each school will assign points for their teachers Teachers assigned to the district office and not associated with a specific school will receive points from their immediate supervisor 3 Points: Achievement results by regression of FCAT components of School Grade Each teacher will receive the same School Score… 3 possible points 1 point each for Science and Total Points for EITHER (A) or (B) (A) School falls ABOVE the line of prediction (High Schools receive this point automatically) OR (B) Higher than the average distance from the line of prediction for the 3 previous years 1 point for current year performance on Total Points for EITHER (A) or (B) (A) At least 0.4 SD above the previous year’s performance Secondary Schools of Choice: At least 10% growth over previous year’s performance (B) At least 0.4 SD above the line of prediction Teachers assigned to the district office and not associated with a specific school will receive district results based on the same criterion for science and total points but at the district level.
