TEAM CAPTAIN (SPORTS ONLY) Role The Team Captains responsibilities mostly fall on match of your sports club’s fixtures. Captains are responsible for minor administration tasks for BUCS and the Students Union both before/after their fixture, as well as selecting the squad for match days. They are also the point of contact between the other team and the referee, they must have good interpersonal skills and be able to make well thought out decisions under pressure. Responsibilities 1) To select teams and make any changes/revisions in discussion with coaches and other committee members. 2) To liaise with the Student Activities team with regards to fixtures. 3) To select players fairly. 4) To ensure that the team knows what is expected of them in terms of commitment and attitude towards training and competition. 5) To encourage the players to be open and frank about all issues concerning the club. 6) To communicate with players and to listen and react appropriately to any problems that may arise. 7) Ensure matches are played within the rules of your sport’s governing body and BUCS. 8) Responsible for managing any appeals/complaints on match days.
