demopark anniversary hat-trick – “Visitor quality, mood and
business climate at the highest level”
Frankfurt, 13 June 2017 – The tenth demopark concluded with a first-class result on Tuesday
in Eisenach. “We are certainly a little proud of achieving a real hat-trick on this anniversary,”
says Dr. Bernd Scherer, demopark initiator and Managing Director of the VDMA industry
network. After all, this year “a peak level was attained in terms of three key elements: Visitor
quality, mood and business climate,” explains Dr. Scherer. Beginning on Sunday, a total of
36,000 green space professionals, golf course experts and municipal decision-makers visited
Europe’s largest open-air exhibition for the green sector.
Initiation of process thinking
This year the focus of the multifaceted array of innovations was on efficiency, electrification
and intelligent process control. “Those who wish to be successful tomorrow should be
thinking today about the optimal control of work processes,” emphasises Dr. Scherer. Digital
innovation ideas such as networked vehicle fleets and equipment control via smartphones
and tablets are “progressively advancing”. Dr. Scherer is certain that “it goes without saying,
that to a great extent developments such as these also give rise to strategic and technical
questions.”
Thought-provoking conference programme
The industry expert evaluates the considerably expanded conference programme as “an
ideal addition to the established practical profile of the exhibition. Combining theory and
practice in a productive, thought-provoking way was and continues to be the aim of our
series of presentations by highly qualified experts concerning the future of municipal
development and landscaping. The fact that we have achieved genuinely outstanding
success in this regard is demonstrated by the consistently good response of trade visitors,”
states Dr. Scherer.

Top marks for tenth demopark
The anniversary demopark exhibition also scored top marks in the visitor evaluations. The
enormous breadth and high degree of innovation of the range of products, now comprising
more than 50 different segments, received unanimous praise.
The overall result was also correspondingly positive: Ninety percent of the visitors regarded
their expectations as being completely satisfied – a record level, which is by no means
commonplace, but which may serve as a good omen for the next demopark. After all, 91
percent expressed the wish to take part again in 2019, when demopark will be held for the
eleventh time, from 23 to 25 June. Since 1999, Europe’s largest open-air exhibition for the
green sector has been held once every two years by the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des
Maschinenbaus mbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VDMA. Additional information can be
