Support for M2 and D2 BTEC First - Sport Unit 6: Sport Development Activity 13 – Have you got a game plan? Before we start to investigate things further, can you think of 3 reasons why participation in sport may have grown? Now then, to the heart of it… In 2002 the UK government published Game Plan: A strategy for delivering the Governments sport and physical activity objectives. The overall aim was: “To increase significantly levels of sport and physical activity, particularly among disadvantaged groups and to achieve continued levels of success in international competition.” Although the Game Plan document is huge, you are quite welcome to download it and have a read if you want it.....however the main priorities of Game Plan were: To begin raising mass participation for young people and adults, especially women and the elderly To improves the delivery of sport and physical activity by central government To reduce bureaucracy and increase funding direct to the sports user, Sport England and UK Sport To improve the delivery of sport and physical activity by non-governmental bodies To improve the delivery of sport and physical activity by local government and the NHS. Question number 1; do you think Game Plan has been successful? Explain why (remember our favourite explaining word: because, because, because). Support for M2 and D2 Can you identify strengths and weaknesses within the Game Plan strategy and make recommendations for future strategies in this area: http://www.sportdevelopment.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6 00:community-sport-initiative-evaluation-3rd-annualreport&catid=55:researchsurveys&Itemid=65 Choose another scheme or strategy you have identified or re-searched (your poster presentation could come in useful here) and evaluate it, picking out the strengths and weaknesses and making recommendations for the future:
