April 2013
Dear Parents
Welcome to our latest newsletter. We
hope you all had a great Easter break
despite the mixed weather! The weeks
are galloping in and although there are
only 12 weeks until the summer holidays
this is always a busy term.
What’s On
P7 continue this term with their planning
for transition to High School and also for
their trip to Normandy. They also have
input from Mark Coull our rugby
development officer who is hoping to set
up a lunchtime club for P6’s and & P7’s.
P6 are continuing their Drama input with
Shona Davidson from East Lothian Arts
Service and they are feeding back to us
about their adventures at Kingswood at
assembly this week.
Primary 6&7 have also had input this week
from George Anderson and Moira
Johnston from Longniddry Bowling Club.
The children enjoyed trying their hand at
bowls and we hope to have a visit to the
bowling green later on in the term.
P5 have a busy term ahead too with the
start of their John Muir Work. More
information will follow from Mrs Boog
about their planned programme of
activities.
P2, 2/3 & P3 are continuing their work on
Ancient Greece and have a fun morning
planned for next week where they will be
sharing their learning with all the other
classes and their Mums and Dads.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Rachael Taylor, Freya
Cochrane, Joanne Welsh and Iona Leith
who all got certificates at a recent piano
festival – well done girls.
Well done to Euan Scott in P6 who won a
competition in the Primary Times and won
a prize of 10 pin bowling vouchers.
Congratulations also to Archie Bryden,
Emma Lessels and Freya Morris who are
part of the Mid & East Lothian Badminton
Team who won the Inter Area Primary
Badminton Tournament before Easter.
Scooters
We have an increasing number of scooters
that are being left in the bike racks at
the end of the day. They are currently
being stored in school for safe keeping!
If you think they belong to you please
come and claim them from the janitor.
Help Wanted
We are looking for someone to help in
administering our Easyfundraising site
which we hope to get up and running again
soon. This is not an onerous job but one
that can help the school raise money. If
you have some time to spare and would be
interested please speak to Miss Skinner.
Staffing Update
Mrs Morgan officially took up her position
as Depute Head as of the 8th April which
we are all delighted about.
After a slight staffing reshuffle we
welcome Mrs Henderson to P3 until the
summer holidays. Mrs Henderson will be
teaching in P3 on a Monday, Tuesday and
Mrs McIntyre will take the class on a
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Anne
Wright to school. She will be teaching in
P7 on a Wednesday and Thursday until
21st May when Mrs MacFadyen starts her
Maternity leave. We are currently in the
process of interviewing for a full time
replacement for Mrs MacFadyen and I
will keep you informed as this progresses.
