The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour, and
one of the most important museums of its type in the world.
The Public Engagement Department consists of the Interpretation, Marketing &
Communications, Development, Education and events teams. This post sits within the
Interpretation team and will play a key role in delivering digital content as part of the
museum’s creative programme. The projects may be derived from any or all of the
museum’s three sites and the Royal Armouries collections. The post will be based at the
museum’s headquarters in Leeds.
Purpose
 Create and maintain content for the Royal Armouries’ Public Engagement
department’s online and digital platforms.
 Assist the Digital Content Manager in the enrichment of current Public
Engagement projects.
Key Tasks





Create/manage/update content for the Royal Armouries online platforms and
other interactive digital platforms as appropriate.
Support the Digital Content Manager in the development and production of
Public Engagement digital projects adopting a collegiate and collaborative
approach with colleagues in Collections, Operations and departmental sister
teams as required.
Play an active role in promoting good practice in digital interpretation
throughout the museum.
Ensure all metadata is correctly completed.
Work closely with Marketing and Communications team to help promote online
digital activity to external audiences.

 Actively liaise with colleagues across the Royal Armouries to build support for the
digital programme in-house
 To build strong working relationships with all relevant departments

Reporting Structure
The post-holder will be a member of the Interpretation team and will be line-managed
by the Digital Content Manager
Hours
This is an 18 month fixed term position with the possibility of further extension, working full
time, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. The post-holder must be prepared to work
occasionally at the weekend, Bank Holidays, and evenings as required, given the
nature of the position.
Disclosure
