Dodgeball report Our first game in the dodgeball league was against White Cliffs Primary school who came to visit us. Our selected first team consisted of Cammay Barrett, Kyden Rapley, Faye Sheaff, Thomas Hawkins, Freya Wood and Rowan Nicholson. The League rules have instructed us to play a ‘Best of 3’ scenario. We began strong with the first game being won within a 2 minutes. This must have given White Cliffs something to think about as the second game was a lot closer, White Cliffs had woken up to the surprise of our players, beating us in the second game. This took the result down to the last game. Both teams were up for this game, and it started out pretty even, but in the end, Green Park came away with the victory. Our next game was away to River Primary School. Our two schools have had an outlasting rivalry since before I worked at Green Park School. I knew this was the game that meant the most to our kids, they believed that if they had won this then they could win anything. For this fixture we were asked to field two teams, and we were more than happy to oblige. So the first team stands at it was the previous week, but the second team we fielded consisted of Mary Hewitt Crane, Oliwier Piotrkowski, Izzy Hare, Oskar Maj, Freya Neal, Jack Wilson, Orianna Vaughen-Griffiths and Wesley Norris. With the second team only just having been selected they had worked well together to obtain a well-deserved victory against River’s second team 2-1. With the first team being the result that would stand in the league, our children were as ready as they had ever been. In the end our children played fantastically making sure that they had a story to take back to school by beating River 3-0. Our third game was meant to be against Lydden but they were unable to attend so we are currently looking at rearranging the fixture. Our fourth scheduled game was against Wingham Primary School who came to visit us. While it was a late starting game our children were practising before the opposition had arrived which seemed to show in the game. The first game started out close with Wingham putting up a good fight but in the end, like the remaining two games, Green Park came out on top. Our final game took place at Guston primary school. It was our final game of the season and we wanted to go unbeaten. Our team was determined to win, but a little bit of complacency snuck through. In the first of the three games Guston took charge, showing us that they weren’t going to go down without a fight. The first game went to Guston. Onto the second game. The thought of the first game must have stuck in our teams head as they had suddenly sparked into life showing Guston why they are undefeated. The second game was a lot closer, going down to the wire, it was one on one. The Guston player threw the ball that successfully hit our player, but his foot was over the half way line. The second game went to us. Onto the final game, we started strong, getting two of their players out within the first minute, then it got tougher, but our team showed resilience and determination to finish the season unbeaten, giving them the ability to see this game through to the end, winning the last game and remaining undefeated. I am extremely proud of every pupil that participated in the league and would like to say thank you and well done on an amazing season.
