about CHOICE Humanitarian CHOICE Humanitarian is a leadership organization that works in rural villages in Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Kenya and Nepal. Our approach integrates five core areas: economic development, health, education, environment and culture. Projects are used as tools to organize communities and mobilize resources to create lasting change. In the end, it’s not about the project but about the process. our partnership The focus of the Christopherson/CHOICE partnership is to build a stronger community within the company and to work together for a common cause. Christopherson will provide financial and human resources to assist those living in poverty to develop their own economic opportunities, thus breaking the cycle out of poverty. Christopherson employees will have the opportunity to share their expertise and talents, both within the company and in partnership with villagers across the globe. our program fundraising humanitarian expedition Examples of such projects include assisting in the building of in-home stoves in Guatemalan villages, assisting in the set-up and training of goat cheese production in a Mexican community which in turn provides individuals and families consistent jobs and sustainable incomes, and helping a villager in Nepal set up a thriving computer training program and electronic repair center for his community. This trip will take place June 11-18, 2015 to Guatemala to assist the local villages with starting new projects or assist with projects they have underway. For employees interested in participating in an expedition, the qualifications are: Christopherson’s 2016 contributions will assist in development projects in areas of need in Mexico, Guatemala, and/or Nepal. We will raise these funds from voluntary employee payroll deductions, which Christopherson will then match 2 to 1. Christopherson Business Travel will be sponsoring a seven-day expedition for 9 employees. • The company will pay the cost of the expedition plus airfare up to $1,000 to and from the destination. The employee will be responsible for all preparation costs, including gear and immunizations. • To be eligible, an employee must 1) contribute to the program through payroll deduction, 2) be willing to sign a liability waiver, 3) be medically able to complete the expedition, which may include manual labor, primitive living conditions, and lengthy travel. • Each employee who goes on an expedition will not be charged PTO for participating. • A participating employee is welcome to include a spouse, partner or other family member in the expedition, but with the understanding that the employee will pay the entire cost of their guest’s participation, including expedition cost and airfare. be part of changing the world Together, Choice Humanitarian and Christopherson Business Travel can make a difference.
