KNOWLEDGE
The game of football requires mental toughness and the ability to carry a game plan out in a
violent se8ng. Some;mes players have difficulty in transferring prac;ce situa;ons and
knowledge of the game plan to Friday nights under the lights. Players must know what to do
and be prepared to problem solve on the field under pressure. Players must know plays, game
to game changes in strategy, and be able to transfer that knowledge to the field of play.
Players who do not comprehend the game plan will be limited on varsity minutes.
WORK ETHIC
How hard does the student-athlete work on the field, in off season condi;oning, and in the
classroom? Is the player pushing himself every play? Do they go as hard as they can un;l
they hear a whistle? Did they make a commitment to the weight room and liI with the team?
Did they aJend survivor in the winter months? During condi;oning did the player go as hard
as possible? Coaches see effort and work ethic...we will always aJempt to reward it with
playing ;me.
ABILITY
Of course talent will play a major factor in playing ;me. Speed is the number one factor the
Titan staff will look for in evalua;ng ability. Strength and size factor into ability also. On
defense the ability to “shed blockers” to find the ball and make a tackle are big. On the
offensive line footwork and strength are big factors. Receivers and TE’s must be able to catch
the ball and make yards aIer the catch. Quarterbacks must be able to throw the ball and be
decision makers while running backs need to have vision in the running game.
