corporate services. We specialise in complex, cross-border solutions, operating from 14 offices across 12 countries.
Founded in Luxembourg in 1976, the firm is privately owned and fully independent, with 1000 employees and over $210 billion in
assets under administration.

A one-firm approach
We believe that the days of the ‘one-dimensional’ fund
administrator are over. In a world of increasing complexity,
regulation and cost of human capital, fund administrators have
moved higher up the value chain to operate as major data hubs and
offer clients broader consultancy services such as risk management
and legal support.
We offer fund, family office and corporate services on their own, but
our real power lies in integrating our expertise across disciplines and
borders to provide a consolidated solution to complex problems.
We employ some of the world’s best talent, be they multijurisdictional lawyers or fund, accounting and investment
professionals, to help our clients navigate the complexity of their
affairs in an increasingly regulated world.
Examples of our approach include:
• The world of international tax planning is changing and the
future is likely to be marked by the automatic exchange of
information. Working ahead of the curve, Maitland has created
end-to-end FATCA and CRS service solutions, through which
we not only advise but can also handle the compliance,
administration and reporting functions on behalf of our clients.
• We are one of the few global fund administrators to have two
AIFMD-compliant management companies and a Luxembourg SIF
fund platform through which we enable alternative fund managers
to set up and market their products in the EU, while outsourcing
compliance, administration and reporting functions to us.
• Through our world-class fund administration platform in Cape
Town, we are able to offer our private clients and family office
clients global consolidated portfolio reporting at the same industrialstrength level that we offer to major institutional fund managers.
• In Latin America, HNWI clients wanting to invest offshore are
intrigued by our ability not only to offer multi-jurisdictional
structuring and legal advice, but also to set up and manage
fund structures on their behalf.
Maitland offers independent third-party fund administration globally
to fund managers, across all fund types and investment styles,
with a focus on institutional asset managers, pension funds, hedge
and private equity funds. We act as an integrator of best-of-breed
technology to provide automated front, middle and back-office
administration services to clients.
Family office services
Maitland works for some of the world’s wealthiest families for
whom we provide the full spectrum of international family office
services, ranging from legal advice, the set-up and management of
structures, investment advisory, reporting and fiduciary services.
We offer a range of sophisticated and flexible investment services
tailored to suit the individual needs and requirements of private
clients and family offices.
We offer independent investment reporting and consulting and for
clients who prefer the simplicity of a fund-based solution we offer a
range of multi-asset and multi-manager investment funds.
Corporate services
Maitland provides directors, trustees and the entire suite of
company secretarial services, as well as general administration
services to various entities.
Maitland also offers a comprehensive range of professional
management and administration services to special purpose
vehicles (SPVs) and other investment vehicles, be these used
for securitisation, project and structured finance arrangements,
syndicated lending transactions, hedge funds or employee share
schemes.

Our history
In the early nineties, client demand grew for Maitland to provide wealth
management services.
Maitland was founded in 1976 in Luxembourg by a South African
lawyer, the late Eric Pfaff, to provide offshore legal and tax
advisory services to private and corporate clients.
Simultaneously, we found clients asked increasingly for fund
services, such as structuring, reporting and administration services
for investment funds and we developed our fund services business,
which led to the adoption of the international SunGard administration
platform in 2005.
The Luxembourg office grew rapidly and further expansion began
in 1982 with the acquisition of a fiduciary business in Geneva.
Driven by our clients’ needs, we continued to expand in Europe
and internationally throughout the eighties and nineties. As the
complexity of services grew, the firm was organised into legal
advisory and trust & corporate services.
In 2010 the firm was re-organised to remove the divisional structure
and deliver services to private, corporate or institutional clients with
one point of contact for each client.
