The proficiency testing. Round schedule: “Middle distillates. Bio-fuel B20”
1. General Information
The “Bio-fuel B20” is a part of the Proficiency Testing Scheme (PTS). A detailed
scheme description is available on OBR’s website: www.obr.pl.
The present round, B20-5-2010 is fifth realized round in the frame of the above
mentioned Scheme (Appendix 3 “Middle distillates”) for the bio-fuel B20 (diesel oil with
20% content of fatty acid methyl esters) results comparison.
2. Test object
Material for testing is diesel oil with 20% content of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME)
content prepared in Analytical Division of R & D Centre for the Petroleum Industry S.A.
The samples for tests will be placed into disposable, labeled and sealed metal
containers with 5 dm3-capacity. Each participant will receive one container of test material in
amount of 4 dm3.
The test samples can be picked up by participants at the PT Provider’s location or can
be delivered to a participant at his cost.
3. Tests method
The present round B20-5-2010 - includes all parameters for test results’ comparisons,
mentioned in regulation of the Minister of Economy of 28 February 2007 on methods for
testing the quality of liquid bio-fuels (appendix to the point II – Test methods for diesel oil
quality with 20% content of fatty acid methyl esters in the scope of the individual parameters
of this liquid bio-fuel).
All requirements and test methods, being the subject of comparison, are given in Table
1.
ASTM standards or other validated methods, including internal ones, which are
equivalents to European Standards mentioned in Table 1, are allowed.

Distribution of deliverable to participants
till February 28th 2011
In case of an unpredictable circumstances, the Provider reserves the right to bring the
changes to the defined schedule. Participants will be informed in writing about possible
changes. Detailed and final deadlines for performing tests and reporting results to the
coordinator will be included in “Instructions for use and handling the samples”, that will be
delivered together with the test sample.
5. Requirements for PT participants
The present Proficiency Testing Round (PTR) is meant for laboratories, which
routinely perform quality evaluation of motor fuels according to normalized standards,
mentioned in Table 1, or according to their normalized alternatives as well as own, validated
procedures. Please treat the sample as if it was a routine sample.
Participation fee in the single round of “Bio-fuel – B20” scheme is 100 Euro. The
shipment costs of samples to participants are not included in the above price. The test samples
can be picked up by participants at the PT Provider’s location or can be delivered to a
participant at his cost.
Participants are obliged to respect rigorously the PT time schedule, especially the
deadlines for performing tests and reporting results to the provider. The test results provided
after the specified deadline will not be taken into account.
6. Communicating with participants of the Proficiency Testing
Clients, interested in joining the present Proficiency Testing Round, should inform in
writing the provider before the specified deadline. Participants should get acquainted with the
scheme “Proficiency Testing. Liquid bio-fuels and fuels”. In order to participate in a specific
round of the PT scheme, clients should fill out the Application Card (2/PT-01 form) and send
it by fax or mail to the provider.
Joining to the present PT round is unambiguous with acceptation of the present
scheme “Liquid fuels and bio-fuels” in the scope of Middle Distillates (Appendix 3).
Test samples and “Instructions for use and handling the samples” (3/PT-01 form) will
be delivered to clients after receiving signed application. Client is obliged to confirm by mail
