Interview Tips - Be prepared
Once you have been selected for an interview it is vitally important you prepare yourself properly to help give
you the best chance of succeeding. There a few things you can do to help make sure the interview goes as well as
possible.
Some key preparations you can do include:
Make sure you are familiar with your CV, might sound silly but if you have more than one CV make sure you
have the one you sent to the client. Your interviewer will have a copy in front of him / her so be prepared for any
questions about your previous experiences.
Make sure you are completely familiar with the job specification. If it has been a while since you applied for the
job read all the information again. This will be discussed during the interview.
Become familiar with their website, read up on the history, sectors they work in etc. Being familiar with the
company as a whole will do you no harm what-so-ever.
Make sure you know who you are seeing and plan your journey and make sure you arrive in plenty of time.
During the interview:
When in the interview listen carefully to the questions asked and answer back clearly and specifically. Make sure
you don’t go off on a tangent and carry on talking about something that was not asked about. You may be asked
to give specific examples where you have carried out similar tasks so make sure you are ready for this. It is never
a good idea to talk negatively about previous employers or bad experiences, always stay positive. At the end of
the interview you may be asked if you have any questions – it is at this time you can ask if 2nd interviews will take
place, how long it will be before you hear back etc. Remember to thank them for the opportunity.
And finally remember this is the first impression a potential hirer will have of you so make sure you’re dressed
smart and arrive in plenty of time. Be polite and courteous to everyone you speak to so as to leave a good
positive impression.
