Job Summary: The Indiana University Department of Athletics is seeking qualified individuals for the Assistant Game Management
Internship. Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management, this position will be responsible for
assisting with the effective execution and coordination of IU Athletic Events. Additionally, this individual will help
schedule/coordinate game management volunteers; serve as a host for visiting teams, referees, and Big Ten Conference/NCAA
personnel. This position will also provide assistance on special projects assigned by the Asst. AD for Event Management. This is an
unpaid position, but may qualify for credit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
 Be able to perform all duties within the overall scope of game management
 Develop and maintain schedule of relevant event volunteers
 Assist in hosting of referees and Big Ten Conference/NCAA personnel
 Assist with game day crowd management
 Perform event setup and teardown as needed
 Manage event volunteers (ball-patrol, sub-table, floor crew, etc.)
 Serve as visiting team host
 Assist in execution of NCAA and Big Ten Conference Post-season events
 Provide game-day assistance to necessary departments both athletic and non-athletic
 Support and/or lead on special projects as assigned
 Serve as lead Game Manager for 1-2 Olympic sports as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Preferred a student(s) who is currently or will be enrolled in the School of Public Health, with a major in Sports
Management, Parks and Recreation, Business Administration, or related field and working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
Experience: Game Management or Athletics experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
 Ability to work well within a group setting
 Proficient in the use of a variety of computer software applications, particularly Excel and Word
 Strong oral and written communication skills
 Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and to prioritize accordingly
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Attention to detail
 General knowledge of athletics related rules/regulations
