FORMER Melbourne livewire
forward Liam Jurrah has found a
new home at the Tiwi Bombers.
Jurrah, who flew out of Alice
Springs on Wednesday, said he is
looking forward to a new challenge.
‘‘I just want to get out of Alice
Springs and start playing footy
again,’’ he said.
The decision to move has been
weeks in the making with Jurrah
in constant contact with former
Melbourne teammate and current
Bomber
Austin
Wonaeamirri.
‘‘Aussie has been chatting to me
and it’s going to be special to play
alongside him again,’’ Jurrah
said.
Jurrah’s lifetime mentor and
uncle, Darren Talbot, said his was
thrilled with his decision.
‘‘This is not a case of Liam
running away,’’ Talbot siad.
‘‘This is all about getting Liam
back on track and out if his
comfort zone.’’
Talbot said he has had constant
contact with Tiwi Bombers football development manager Peter
Atkinson in the past seven days.
‘‘We think this is the best thing
for Liam in his development,’’
Talbot said.
The move is all about Jurrah
finding his independence of
knowing his ability and to actually make decisions for himself.
‘‘Doing this will make Liam a lot
more stronger mentally and
physically in copying with day to
day life,’’ Talbot said.
Jurrah will conduct football
clinics on the island as well as
adding a lot of potency to the
Bombers forward line.
‘‘I can’t wait to play for the
Tiwi,’’ Jurrah said.
Whether the 36 AFL game
highflyer will play in the Bombers
clash this week against Wanderers remains to be seen.
‘‘I’ll get up there and train and
take it from there,’’ he said.
If Jurrah does not play for Tiwi
Islands against Wanderers on
Sunday, his debut could be
