RED / YELLOW CARD INSTRUCTIONS Player Yellow Card (1) A player ordered off the playing surface under a Yellow Card shall remain off the playing surface for the remainder of that quarter and all of the next quarter. (2) That player is not reported. (3) He/or she CAN be replaced. (4) The team manager of the players team is to meet the player at the interchange (5) The player must give the allocated person their jumper number and the reason, given by umpire, for their yellow card (6) The player is then to be taken to their coach’s box by their team manager to remain off the field for the allocated game time. (7) The player and team manager will be informed by the allocated person once the player’s time off the field is up. (8) If a player receives 3 yellow cards in one season, an automatic 1 match suspension will apply. (9) If a player receives a forth yellow card in a season, he/she will be sent to the tribunal under the charge of ‘misconduct’. (10) For the avoidance of doubt, a player can receive two yellow cards in a match without being reported. Player Red Card (1) A player ordered off the playing surface under a Red Card shall remain off the playing surface for the remainder of the match, and is reported under the LOAF. The player is not permitted to enter the playing surface, as well as the interchange area and coaches box. (2) He/or she CAN be replaced. (3) A player sent off with a red card will be reported by umpire (4) The team manager of the home venue club is to go to the umpire room after the game to follow up any player reports (5) If a player has been reported the umpire will require the player and the team manager to go to the umpire room to discuss the report and if applicable offer Set Penalties Home venue club (1) Must allocate a person, normally the time keeper to be the person allocated to be in control of the sendoff’s and the timing of these. This person needs to be given the Sendoff form and a stop watch. If in the event a time keeper cannot be positioned at the interchange the role is to be given to the Ground Marshall (2) Must phone AFLGCJ within 1 hour of the finish of the game that a person/player has been reported (3) All umpire reports and Send off sheets to be sent to AFLGCJ no later than the Monday after the game.
