Chef Luigi starts his new television show on the
cooking channel next week. In a publicity
interview he was asked how many hours he
practiced cooking so that he could become the
famous chef he is today. He told the
interviewer he had been cooking alongside his
grandmother since he was a boy of 9. Every
night he helped her prepare a full meal for the
family for 45 minutes right after finishing his
homework. He helped her until he left for
culinary school. How many hours did he spend
learning how to cook from his grandmother if he
helped her every year for 9 years?

ringing the bell at the top of the High Striker Game. If he hits the pad
with the mallet hard enough the puck rise up the tower and ring the
bell. The grand prize is a bag of jawbreakers in packages. There are
12 packages of jawbreakers in the bag with 6 in each package. How
many total jawbreakers can he win? If Billy rings the bell and decides
to share the jawbreakers with all of his 17 classmates on Monday, how
many jawbreakers will each get?

Stephens Elementary wants to purchase pictures of
George Washington for President’s Day to cling to the
window of each classroom door. There are 15 classrooms
in Hall A, 19 classrooms in the main part of the building
and 17 classrooms in Hall B. If the pictures cost $3.25
each, what will be the total cost?
Crockett Elementary Student Council is preparing for
their springtime Field Day. One of the events is a
Tug-Of- War for which they will need a long rope. They
know they need 2ft of rope per person. They estimate
there will be 12 students on each of the two teams. How
many yards of rope will they need?

tokens they’ve won at each even when
Sarah notices her bag of tokens is missing.
Her 4 kind friends decide to put all of
their tokens together so they can divide

Emily’s bag has 19 tokens, Peyton’s has 28
tokens, Miranda’s has 31 and Kate’s has
22. If they divide the total equally among
the five girls, how many tokens will each
have?

Celebrate!
The fourth grade poster partners are going to prepare 24
posters to distribute to each teacher to use for celebrating
events this year. They will tape around all the edges of each
poster so they won’t tear or show wear. Each package of
tape contains 12 yards of tape. If the dimensions of each
sign are 2 feet by 3 feet, find the total number of packages
of tape needed to tape the edges of all 24 posters.
Sniffing
with Fido
Fido, the dog, is exhausted. Every
morning he begins at 7a.m. sniffing
all the trees, bushes and other
plants in his yard. Every 4 minutes
he moves forward sniffing four
plants then moves back 1 plant and
sniffs it again.. How many different
plants will Fido have sniffed by
8:00a.m. when it’s time for his
morning nap? Write an equation to
show the relationship.

Ricky and his friends are on a relay team for Field Day. The
