MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The Sales Executive position is directly involved with the sales/marketing of rental product line,
account growth, retention and customer satisfaction. Duties include focusing on opening new
rental accounts, short and long-term rental business and contractual lead generation for the
contract hire product line.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION
Reports to:
Head of Area Sales
Collaboration with: National Rental Sales Managers, Central Rental, Sales Directors, Account
Managers, Locations, Area Sales Managers, Accounting Centre, Rental Operations Managers
and Marketing.
3.
SCOPE OF JOB
The Sales Executive is the primary rental sales coordinator for the assigned geographic territory.
Supports the Rental Operations Manager, Locations and ASMs through the generation of
profitable new accounts while retaining and growing existing rental accounts. The end result
should be the development of lease accounts and improved Return on Assets, revenue growth
and profitability. Identification and generation of new lease leads for wider sales team.
4.
DIMENSIONS AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
The position is directly responsible for generating new rental revenue, growing existing rental
revenue and generation of new contractual business across their assigned territory.
 The Sales Executive is the front line sales force that has a direct impact on local, National
and Contractual customers.
 The Sales Executive will operate in accordance with Company policies, procedures,
authority levels and within agreed Credit Line risk and contractual terms framework.
5.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE







Graduate Calibre.
Five years of sales experience preferred. Two years of industry experience preferred.
Ambition and determination to progress into other sales/account management roles within
Ryder.
Possess outstanding communication skills with excellent writing and verbal skills
Must be self-motivated, results-orientated, willing to travel and thrive in a fast-paced
environment
High energy and good customer service skills.
Full UK Driving License.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health and Safety
 Ensure Ryder Health & Safety policies and procedures are actively followed by
promoting and enforcing a safety culture.
Sales
 Handle rental sales processes and achieve quota for assigned territory.
 Responsible for generating new and additional spot rental, long term rental, lease and
used vehicle sales leads.
 Coordinate and assign follow-up sales activities to CSMs and CSRs.
 Develop leads through telephone solicitation, customer visits and sales blitzes.
 Assess customer’s needs and develop proposals through the use of product knowledge
and Ryder training and development
 Coordinate fortnightly sales blitzes and follow-up activities for assigned locations.
 Grow Ryder market share by successfully executing the sales initiatives.
 Maintain and communicate pipeline and sales activities through the required sales pipeline
tool
 Maximise utilisation of allocated rental fleet through effective fleet mix and awareness of
local market trends
Rate Management
 Maintain competitive awareness and market pricing through regular customer visits.
 Operate within agreed rental rate structure
 Optimize and assess the long term book of business continually and ensure rate increase
opportunities are executed prior to renewal date.
 Ensure any mileage, early termination and service charges are applied.
Operations & Asset Management
 Complete understanding of marketplace conditions in order to maximize utilization of the
rental fleet
 Work with the Credit department to ensure that Ryder’s position in respect of bad or
outstanding debt is minimised.
Customer
 Accountable for coordinating with maintenance, asset management, sales and marketing
to ensure customer satisfaction
 Ensure quality service is provided by effectively handling customer complaints, and staying
abreast of customer needs and long term customer opportunities
 Retain customers in a price competitive marketplace
 Drive profitable revenue growth by maintaining and expanding relationships with existing
and new customer base
Communication
 Build constructive and effective relationships with both internal and external customers
 Clearly articulate Ryder’s product and service offerings
 Work collaboratively with contractual lease and customer service teams and adhere to the
Mentorship program





Directly responsible for ensuring effective communication between the CSR, ASM teams
and the maintenance operations on a local level throughout the entire territory.
Provide weekly commentary on activity and performance within assigned territory.
Can communicate effectively across all functions.
Advise your Manager of all lost opportunities and lost business with reasons.
To regularly feedback competitor activity in territory.
