Dear Parents and Carers
I am writing to update you regarding a proposal being made by the local governing body of the academy.
The proposal is for Beamont Collegiate Academy to migrate from Warrington Collegiate Education Trust to
form part of a new multi-academy trust (MAT) called The Challenge Academy Trust (TCAT) alongside the
following institutions:






Priestley 6th form College
Bridgewater High School
Penketh High School
Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School
Great Sankey Primary School
Penketh South Primary School
This proposal follows an extensive period of due diligence and discussion by the governing bodies of all
institutions including meetings with the Regional Schools Commissioner and the Department for Education.
Warrington Collegiate Education Trust board is also happy to support this proposal.
Governors and the leadership team at BCA are strongly committed to ensuring that we do what is right for
our school and that we continue to be an excellent school that serves its community well. Over the past
eighteen months we have been exploring all of our options for the future and we firmly believe that joining
The Challenge Academy Trust offers exciting opportunities for our students, school and staff, whilst
maintaining our individual ethos, values and identity. The strong partnership we have with our families is
really important to us and we truly value your feedback and views within this consultation.
The period of consultation on this proposal will be from 12th January until the 9th February 2017. We have
prepared a consultation document that is available on the following website www.tcat.uk.com which
provides more detail about this proposal, including our rationale and the potential benefits we feel this will
have for students and staff at Beamont Collegiate Academy. If you would like us to send you a hard copy,
please ring the school on 01925 579501 or email us at [email protected].
We would be very grateful if you could take the time to respond to the consultation by completing the online proform on the website, alternatively please complete the proforma in the consultation document and
return it to: The Clerk of Governors, Beamont Collegiate Academy, Long Lane, Warrington, WA2 8PX.
There are many reasons why we have decided to consider migrating to this new multi-academy trust. The
trust is a local trust involving schools with a good track record of collaboration. We believe that this will
provide far more opportunities to work collaboratively and most importantly, expand the range of
opportunities we can offer to our children, in turn, raising standards of achievement and progress. We will
also be able to share resources and have greater professional development for staff and governors. Being
involved with a larger trust will also create economies of scale; this will ensure place us in a stronger position
to negotiate external contracts and services that represent greater value for money and therefore will
benefit of all our students.
We will be holding two open evenings to support the consultation process. You are welcome to attend either
and so that we can manage numbers we would appreciate it if you contact the respective school in advance
should you wish to attend.
