How about those Bulldogs !! It's so good to see our team winning some games and of course, you know, Thrall. And we surely enjoy our band at the half time performances and wish them luck at contest in Giddings last Saturday. My cousin spent last week with us and we took her as far as Giddings and we were really tempted to stop and watch our band perform on our way home, but after a week of company, just too tired and ready to get home. There was a cute picture in the newspaper of Leah Hook, daughter of Wesley and Lynne Falke Hook, Class of 1976 of Austin. She created a bird and butterfly sanctuary in the rose garden of the Wesleyan at Scenic Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Georgetown and earned the Golden Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouts. Leah is a Senior at Westlake High School. Our congratulations to her. There were several nice photos of students from both Thorndale Elementary and St. Paul Lutheran School during Fire Prevention Week. A cute one of Neil Caffey, Class of 2003 kneeling and letting the little ones feel his safety gear he was wearing. Neil received the Thorndale Ex-Students Memorial Scholarship. Also, Fire Chief, Eric Melde, Class of 1998, Exes husband and Thorndale Police Department Officer, Michael Moehling and Neil Caffey gave demonstrations. Eric received the 6th Coach White Memorial Scholarship. We need to always thank our Volunteer Firemen. They do a great job, a hot job when they have to fight a fire, no pay and we can't thank them enough. There was a huge, colored picture in the newspaper of the Red Hat Society dressed in costumes for their October meeting. In the photo, among others, were exes: Elvira Stroud Calvin, Class of 1979; Pam Unnasch Ballard, Class of 1974; and exes mom, Pam Eulenfeld. Sure looked like fun. Well, there's not much news for our exes as everyone is getting ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving and then heading in to Christmas and the New Year. My!! How time flies!! So, I'll list a few of our lost exes again. Seems like we never find any of our exes after we lose them. Class of 1973: Donna Carr Betak last address in Rockdale. Class of 1974: Carol Beard Sakewitz last in Thorndale; Leo Cruz; Lee Gipson last in New York; Elaine Griffith Culp, last in Indiana; Isabel Lopez Richardson last in Taylor. Class of 1975: Phyllis Perkins, Linda Lopez Schrader last in Taylor; Aubrey Sheppard last in Granger. Class of 1976: Eunice Stroud Williams last in Louisiana. Class of 1977: Nancy Roberts Hines last in Thorndale; JoAnn San Miguel Lara last in Cameron; and James Earl Ware last in Dallas. If you know where any of these folks are, please let us know. Just For Fun: Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetables while you chop. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button. You need only two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. It if shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem. Just thought a little chuckle would do us all good. We can be found on the web at www.thorndale.txed.net or you can call 512-898-2072. You can e-mail [email protected] or you can write to Thorndale Ex-Students Assn., P. O. Box 393, Thorndale, TX 76577. We love to hear from our exes.
