ECON 304 Mathematical Economics-II
Assist.Prof.Dr. Serpil Kahraman Akdoğu
Department of Economics
Course Description
Course Materials
The course is designed to economics and international relations students to
the key ideas and concepts of mathematical economics. The primary focus
of this course will be on exponential and logarithmic functions,
optimization, integral, higher order and first order differential equations,
optimal control theory and introduction to linear programming etc.
C.Chiang, Alpha; Wainwright, Kevin: Fundamental
Methods of
Mathematical Economics, McGraw Hill. Other supplemental readings, notes,
slides will be posted to the website http://skahraman.yasar.edu.tr .
Learning Outcomes of the Course
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to;
1. use the mathematical tools to learn how to describe an economic model
mathematically
2. examine the logarithmic functions, first order and higher order
differential equations,
3.to have a knowledge the linear programming and optimal control theory
4.understand the specify methods for discrete and continuous time.
Ethical Rules With Regard to The Course
All students are expected to attend each class and to actively participate in
problem solving. If you miss the exam without acceptable legal documents,
no make ups on exams will be given. If you are more than 10 minutes late,
you will be marked absent. Students caught cheating or otherwise violating
the rules of academic conduct will receive a zero grade and disciplinary
penalties. All electronic devices (cell phone, calculator, camera or other
means) should be turned off during the class.
