Program Highlights/Key Milestones
It is the intent of this section of the progress report that you will find program highlights and key
milestones relative to each “active” project.
Pre-Design / Program Phase

Campus Wide ADA Compliance
This project's scoping and budget have been tentatively determined and are being
presented to LASC Administration for authorization to proceed.

Health Academy Building
This project has been cancelled and the funds were re-allocated to the School of
English and Foreign Languages.

Campus-wide Security Upgrades
This project is on hold pending approval by the Executive Director, Facilities
Planning and Development and the Chancellor and will not continue planning until
approval is granted.

Campus-wide Infrastructure Upgrades
CPM submitted and received approval from the Build-LACCD office to start the
design and engineering of the campus-wide electrical upgrade project.

Campus-wide Technology UpgradesCampus-wide Infrastructure Upgrades
This project is on hold pending approval by the Executive Director, Facilities
Planning and Development and the Chancellor and will not continue planning until
approval is granted.

MTA Transit Centers (FTA Grant)
CPM is working with the Build-LACCD office to finalize the A/E RFP.
DSA Review Phase

Cox Building - Little Theater Upgrade
100% Construction Documents by Design-Builder are pending DSA approval. DSA
comments were received by the A/E team on July 27th, and are currently being
addressed.


Cox Building Upgrade
100% Construction Documents for Increment 2 (Upgrade/Modernization) are
pending DSA approval.

School of English & Foreign Languages Modernization
100% Construction Documents are pending DSA’s plan check comments. DSA
outstanding legacy issues to be resolved as part of current Bond project (per DSA).
Back-check and DSA approval pending.

School of Arts & Humanities
100% Construction Documents by Design-Builder are pending DSA approval.
This project is on hold pending approval by the Executive Director, Facilities
Planning and Development and the Chancellor and will not continue planning until
approval is granted.
Fitness and Wellness Center
100% Construction Documents by Design-Builder are in back-check. DSA approval
pending.

Bid & Award Phase

Currently, there is no activity.
Construction Phase

Storm Water Implementation - Southwest / California Department of
Transporation (CalTrans) Wall
Construction is about 48% complete. Placement of CMU blocks in progress.

Cox Building Upgrade
100% Construction Documents for Increment 1 (Annex) received DSA approval on
March 1, 2012. Notice to Proceed with the construction of Cox Annex (increment
#1) was issued on June 11, 2012 with a 365 calendar day construction schedule.
Construction is about 7% complete.

School of Math & Sciences (Exterior Replacement)
CPM requested an IOR for Weatherization, and for levels 3 and 4 on July 20, 2012.
Construction on this scope of work is schedule to start the week of August 20,
2012. CPM, DB and the Building User Group will start finalizing the nursing and
Allied Health design for the 1st and 2nd levels that will be housed in this building.

School of Career & Technical Education
This project is on hold pending approval by the Executive Director, Facilities
Planning and Development and the Chancellor and will not continue planning until
approval is granted.
Close-out/Commissioning Phase

School of Behavioral and Social Sciences Upgrade
Certificate of Substantial Completion to be issued by CPM on April 18, 2012. CPM
has turned over close out documents to the Build office for review. Transmittal of
close-out documents to campus facilities pending Build-LACCD review.

Cox Building - Elevator Modernization
CPM submitted unilateral Change Order to Program Manager for Board (BOT)
approval September, 2012.

SSAC Bookstore
Final Change Order documents to be placed on the October 3, 2012 Board of
Trustees Agenda for approval.

Site Improvements - Campus East Pump House & Fire Water Upgrade
A temporary permit has been issued by AQMD to operate the Emergency
generator testing. The draft permit to operate is pending. CPM has received closeout documents and has completed Phase 1 of close-out. DSA Certification pending.

Look Ahead (next 90 days)
The significant events that are scheduled or are targeted to occur in the next 90 days are as
follows:

Ongoing Progress – Construction will continue for all projects that were already in
construction when the Moratorium was expanded on December 14, 2011 and for those
projects released from the Bond Moratorium as of July 27, 2012 (see above).

DSA Progress – Currently, we expect to receive DSA approval of plans and specifications
for the following projects: School of Arts and Humanities, Cox Building Upgrade
(Increment 2), Cox Building Little Theater Upgrade, Fitness and Wellness Center and
the School of English & Foreign Languages Modernization.

Complete Closeout – The Closeout Phase is scheduled to be completed for the School
of Behavioral and Social Sciences Upgrade, SSAC Bookstore, Cox Building Elevator Modernization, LAUSD Middle College High School, and Site Improvements
- Campus East Pump House & Fire Water Upgrade, Northeast Quadrant Parking
Structure, Campus-wide Storm Water Collection System projects.
