The game kicked off and straightaway Chaddy looked firmly in control. The passing was good and Chaddy
were able to pass their way through the Hattersley midfield and defence with ease.
As the game progressed and the more Chaddy put the pressure on, a goal was obviously on the way for the
yellow and green army. Throughout the first half Chaddy Park forwards James Collins and Connor Evans
constantly found themselves in front of goal but nothing would come until James was able to break the
deadlock and put Chaddy 0-1 up.
Chaddy continued to push forward, evidently not happy with a one goal lead and this time it was Connor
who found himself in front of goal to double the score, 0-2.
Hattersley struggled to break forward for most of the first half as the back four, under the guidance of
Captain Adam Fisher and centre half Sam Jackson, were able to control the strikers and caught them offside
8 times out of 10. The odd time they did manage to break Sam, Adam, Morgan and Aaron were able to
comfortably deal with any danger. Except on one occasion when the striker managed to break through,
feeling full of confidence that he had broken through the Chaddy Park brick wall he was caught off guard by
Ellis who came charging out towards him. Panicking, the striker shot early and could only watch in dismay
as the ball sailed wide.
Chaddy Park once again found themselves on the attack, this time winning a corner. The ball was wiped in
and after a bit of a scramble Connor was able to get a shot off. The Hattersly defender attempted to clear
the ball off the line but he was only able to hoof it into the back of the net. The goal looked like an own
goal but Connor argued passionately that the ball had already crossed the line before the defender got a
touch and so the goal was awarded to him, 0-3.
The reign of decimation wasn’t to stop and Chaddy again found themselves on the attack, this time with
Alex Ralphs on the right wing. After skipping past his marker he let loose a bullet shot that no one was
able to stop and after nearly ripping a hole in the net Chaddy were comfortably in the lead, 0-4.
Chaddy were still not happy with their lead, and maybe after the last few disappointing games wanted to
prove what they were made of, they pushed forward more and after a foul was committed were awarded a
free kick just outside the area. Alex Parker stepped up and clipped a perfect ball over the wall; everybody
knew that as soon as it left his foot there was only one place it was going. It seemed to cross the line in
slow motion and slowly role down the back of the net to confirm that Chaddy were back on winning form,
0-5.
2nd half
Hattersley seemed more fired up for the second half and Chaddy found it harder to break. The defence and
Ellis were also made to work harder in this half as Hattersley forced several attacks on goal. Most were
dealt with easily by any one of the back four, Sam and Adam in the middle, Aaron on the left or Thomas on
the right. Failing that the reliable hands of Ellis, who was on top form today, denied many chances and
proved his quality in the sticks.
After a very dodgy offside decision Hattersley were able to break and despite Sam Jackson’s gut-busting
determination to get back they were able to score, 1-5.
What was Chaddy’s response to this? Pile the pressure on up front and try and score another. Some
beautiful passing play led to James Ashton taking a shot but alas it just went wide.
Chaddy didn’t stop here and again broke free with James Ashton taking another shot that was goal bound
only for it to be cleared off the line. The ball fell to James Collins who, looking for his second goal, shot and
to his dismay that was also cleared off the line.
The game continued in much the same vein but unfortunately no more goals were to come Chaddy Park’s
way but at 1-5 up there could really be no complaints.
The boys were back on form today and looked like the Chaddy Park of old, after some “off” performances
recently. Ellis Jenner played a superb game, one of the best this season, and his confidence and ability
grows in every game. It is my firm belief that more goals would have come for Hattersley had it not have
been for Ellis in net. Sam Jackson was another who played out of his skin today, many of the parents
commented on his performance and rightly so. Adam Fisher was his usual reliable, determined self and
proved again why he wears the Captain’s armband. Aaron Clegg, Morgan Hughes and Thomas Dean all put
in good performances at full back making it, at the moment, the toughest position to pick. James Ashton
and Patrick Hollywood worked wonderfully well together in the centre of midfield, James is another player
whose confidence grows each week. Daniel Woodcock and Alex Ralphs worked well out on the wings with
both players making it a hard game for the Hattersley full backs with Alex putting his name on the score
sheet and Daniel nearly joined him. Up front James Collins was a credit to his team as he worked for
everything, chased for everything, battled hard and was rewarded with a goal. Connor worked well up front
showing us all what a danger he can be there but I still believe there’s more to come from him.
Alex Parker entered the game in the first half and what a mark he made! He battled and fought for
everything in midfield and was rewarded with possibly the goal of the season. Matt fought hard when he
came on and nearly scored a few goals himself.
All in all, boys, a very impressive performance and very impressive win …. KEEP IT UP!
