FA B N E W S THE NEWSLETTER FROM TAUNTON FABRICATIONS LTD Welcome After winning the West of England Business of the Year Award a few years ago I’m delighted to announce in this special edition of FAB NEWS that we’ve done it again by being named as Somerset Business of the Year. This is a fabulous achievement that has been a real team effort in what have been very challenging times for us all. There are a number of factors behind our success, some of which is the high level of standards we operate to and the forward thinking approach we adopt which you can also read about in this edition. I hope you have a relaxing Christmas break and wish you every success for 2013. Jason Rigby Managing Director SECURED CONTRACT Block G Portishead – Crest Nicholson’s premier development on the East Quay has started and Taunton Fabrications are delighted to have secured the metalwork package. The Structural balcony frames will be phased and delivered from early 2013. Taunton Fabrications Estimator, Chris Sampson, commented: “Reducing site installation time was a main consideration of the tendering process. The balconies will be delivered to site fully finished with the floor joists and decking completed and fitted out at our Taunton workshop.” Contractor: WINTER UPDATE SPECIAL EDITION A WINNING TEAM Despite a downturn in the construction sector over the last two years, business at Taunton Fabrications over that period has increased by a massive 35% – this was just one of the reasons that Taunton Fabrications was recently named as the 2012 Somerset Business of the Year (6 – 50 employee category). The awards, organised by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, is one of the most important and popular fixtures in Somerset’s business calendar. The event organisers commented that the standard of the entries this year had been exceptional, whilst the number of companies entering was up by 20 per cent, proving that the popularity and prestige of the Somerset Business Awards continues to increase year on year. Managing Director, Jason Rigby said, “Measures taken at the start of the recession means that Taunton Fabrications now operates in a completely different way than it did a few years ago. This award shows that those decisions were the right ones but couldn’t have been achieved without the commitment and dedication of the whole team at Taunton Fabrications.” The 6-50 employee category was the most hotly contested with judges looking for a business that stands out from the crowd including ambition, profitability, growth, sound business planning, customer satisfaction and management of people – a company with a “Wow Factor” that is worth celebrating. The award was sponsored by EDF Energy and presented by Chris Squires (above right), Lead Supply Chain Engagement Manager.
