Twain Junior High School, Gym (Test, 35%) Rehearsal before the concert at 5:30 P.M., Choir Room Stanislaus County Honor Choir (not a mandatory concert, extra credit) January 27, Friday st 1 Rehearsal: January 11, Wednesday, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Roosevelt JH School 2nd Rehearsal and concert: January 27, Friday, 3:00pm, with break for a food (More detailed information will be provided) Mark Twain Choir and Area Elementary Schools Recital: April 12, Wednesday, MHS Auditorium (Quiz, 15%) (More detailed information will be provided) M. Twain Spring Recital: May 9, Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. M. Twain Junior High School, Gym (Test, 35%) Rehearsal before the concert at 5:30 P.M., Gym Music Department Trip: May 12 or May 19, Friday, all day trip 2. Weekly Participation 3. In class: vocal skills, music theory, solfege, and ear-training assessments 4. Homework assignments: Practicing voice and vocal posture exercises GRADING/EVALUATION POLICY Types of Evaluation and Weighted Value: A student grade will be determined by the 4 factors: Weekly Participation, In Class/Homework Practice Sheets and Vocal skills assessment, Performances (at M. Twain JH school and other sites). 1. Weekly Participation: 25 points for the week, 5 points a day, 10 possible extra points, 40% of total grade. Loss of points: tardiness, unexcused absences, talking, using gum, bringing food to the class and other unexcused behavior. 2. In Class/Homework Practice Sheets, Vocal Skills, Music Theory, Solfege, Ear-training assessments. 10% of total grade. MANDATORY CONCERTS: Failure to attend Mandatory Concerts and/or Dress Rehearsal will result in a drop in letter grade. 3. Performance Test, M. Twain school concerts: 35% of total grade, includes Vocal Production, Effort and Etiquette. Loss of points: unexcused absence from performance, or poor performance. 4. Performance Quiz, concerts at other sites: 15% of total grade, includes Vocal Production, Effort and Etiquette. Loss of points: unexcused absence from performance, or poor performance. Extra credit will be given for the participation at not mandatory performances, initiative behavior, working at the choir class room, and other factors. REPERTOIRE: covers from medieval music through Contemporary styles and foreign languages songs.
