To illustrate, consider our client, Infrastructure Corporation
of America (ICA), an engineering firm, who was
struggling through their Microsoft Dynamics
AX implementation with their previous
implementation partner. The accounting
manager finally decided that they needed
a better strategy for getting the work done.
SBS Group was selected to do two phase
project that entailed 1) fixing the previous
partner’s failed implementation and 2)
essentially, re-implementing the system to
improve performance and functionality.
At this point, the project was way over budget
and significantly late. SBS Group recommended a right
sourcing strategy to try to get the project back on track. In
phase 1, the SBS Team would leverage offshore resources to
do support work so the local team could focus on identifying
and prioritizing issues that needed to be addressed and,
in phase 2, the offshore team would be leveraged to help
tackle the workload of re-implementation.

Our client was hesitant. They had little experience working
with offshore resources and were apprehensive about the
idea, having heard horror stories from others who had
bad experiences. The SBS Group team walked the client
through the work plan, project management tools and
communication channels that were in place to manage both
the local team and the remote team, as well as discussing
the value proposition of this approach – having the right
resources available for the work at hand, exploiting the
time zone advantage to speed up the timeline and
lowering the cost.
Ultimately, the client agreed to try this
approach during phase 1 to see how
things went. Our offshore team performed
admirably. The local team would identify
and prioritize fixes and send them off to
the remote team, who delivered completed
work for testing back to the client the next
morning. The customer was beyond
pleased with both the response time
and the quality of work. Right sourcing was
quickly approved for Phase 2 and we were able to get their
project back on track in record time for an affordable price.
