Thesis Work in high level design tool integration: The Orchestrator ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. ABB is present in more than 100 countries and employs about 150,000 people. ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with varied ABB business areas, is developing the foundations for the next generation of ABB products. In Sweden, ABB Corporate Research, located in Västerås, employs 280 scientists from over 40 countries with expertise in automation and power technologies for manufacturing, consumer and process industries as well as power utilities. Location: Job Function: Employment Contract Type: Division/Function: Publication ID: Västerås, Vaestmanland County, Sweden Research and Development Diploma work, Full-Time Group Function Research & Development SE53133414_E17 Tasks The main purpose of the research project is to provide a solution for the integration of tools throughout the life-cycle of an embedded systems product. This, while observing an increase in the quality of the design, and in the performance of the results. A key factor to these is the possibility to work at high levels of abstraction and to be able to take implementation decisions at a later stage in the design process; for instance being capable of selecting hardware of software solutions or change the decision as late as possible, with a minimal re-design effort. Among the tools ABB is to observe within the project focus, we find of key importance the realization of an orchestrator i.e. a tool to manage and oversee the interaction between the tools used during the development and maintenance of the embedded systems product. The work will consist of the OSLC-compliant implementation of the orchestrator specifications. The validation of the results will be done by linking the realization to similar other solutions and running a small case study. Requirements We believe that this project is suitable for two students with a solid background in UML based design, and good skills in programming.
