COMMITTEE NAME: NOMINATING COMMITTEE ____________________ REV 8 JAN 10
Background: Describe why this committee exists, what it has done in the past, etc.
A Nominating Committee is required by the Bylaws[Article VI.16]
Responsibilities: List the expectations of what this committee is to achieve by the end of its
term. Be as specific as possible.
1. Board Elections
a. Prepare a slate of candidates for the Chapter Board,
striving for diversity among USGBC’s fourteen (14)
different member categories.
b. Announce the slate to the membership 30 days prior to
elections.
c. Tally votes.
2. Officer Elections
a. Prepare a slate of candidates for each office and ensure it
is in compliance with USGBC Chapter Membership Policy.
b. Ensure at least one candidate for each office.
c. Obtain consent to serve from each candidate prior to
elections.
d. Present the slate to the Chapter Chair.
Meetings:

Set up and participate in monthly teleconference calls. Meet in
person once prior to the submission of slate of candidates for
Board or Officer elections.

Deadlines &
Milestones:
1. Board Elections – Submit candidate slate to Board in time to be
able to announce the names of candidates to the membership at
least 30 days prior to election.
2. Officer Elections – Submit candidates at least two weeks prior to
first Board meeting and following Board elections.
Budget: There is no budget or anticipated out of pocket expense for this
committee.
Term Expires: January 31, 2011 for all committee members. This is an annual Ad Hoc
committee.
