Feedback from Module 1 Mendocino County Training What worked for me: 1. 2. 3. 4. Quick introductions, good mix of instruction and group work. Combination of theory and practice Green line and perceptive positions The strategies are reliable to specific groups in which many of us in the room are a part of. The hope is we can develop a deeper, authentic relationship to move forward. 5. Modeling and practice 6. Having the opportunity to practice the micro skills either with a partner or a group. 7. Explanation of focus points and positions. 8. I felt that when asked to discuss we were given sufficient time to really get into the topic and we were not rushed. 9. Having the opportunity to practice the skills being taught. 10. Steve guiding us through the group practices (exercises) 11. Lunch, breaks, time in groups to reflect and process, flexibility of atmosphere. 12. Interacting in small groups/one-on-one 13. Enneagram. Your modeling of facilitation process. 14. Modeling/role plays worked best. Really showed how it works. 15. Frequent group activities 16. Able to identify and explain strategies used, especially in working with new employees 17. 1st 2nd and 3rd positions 18. Group practices- discussions paired with Steve’s demonstrations 19. Bringing people out of their comfort zones 20. Nice balance of delivery of material and then practice/implementation. Explanation of the enneagram 21. Pace at which info was delivered. Quality of information delivered – thank you! Group’s level of interest – high 22. You are a professional… I don’t say this lightly.. but both days worked exquisitely well. 23. A big AH-HA – afternoon of second day seeing all the pieces come together. 24. Giving an idea or process and letting us talk about it and then practice and process idea. Referring to the flip cards as we are introduced to new idea. 25. Group work interspersed with lecture. 26. There was enough time to complete each exercise 27. Balance of information, examples and exercises. Also your eye for the group’s energy and attention was spot on. 28. Practical, applications, stories, role play, just-in-time learning 29. The enneagram makes sense. I learned a lot about using it as a process. 30. Like examples, including movies that made it real to me. 31. Understanding the process better. Understanding how I fit in and my role (position) 32. Modeling with real examples 33. Watching demos – demonstrations were great! 34. Role playing was engaging 35. Learning how to analyze group dynamics 36. Learning to have micro skills and observations 37. Demonstrations and examples and stories explaining the models. The models can be confusing without examples. The lunch was delicious. 38. The process. 39. Seeing demonstrations was great for me because it helped me to solidify the way you wanted us to understand the concept. 40. Actually getting into the groups to role play/work on the issues or practice the models being presented. 41. Validating that introverts can use their natural affectations to facilitate. 42. Role playing and modeling by Steve 43. Today enneagram and its impact (use) modeling its importance. What didn’t work or what I want more of in next modules? 1. 2. 3. 4. Continue mixture of group process/practice with learning Keep coming back to process along enneagram lines Facilitating through demonstration Coming in with the perception, trying hard to keep it from becoming a belief, that even with these strategies nothing will change. 5. More modeling and practice opportunities. 6. Chance to work with our teams and begin, deepen our work 7. Facilitating teams or groups 8. I would benefit from having all of the powerpoint slides be present in the handout packet. 9. It wasn’t a horrible annoyance, but some of the slides projected were not in the handout packet. 10. Group coming prepared with project information. 11. Specific language examples to begin and move through the enneagram process. 12. More of real life scenarios instead of theoretical. 13. Role modeling (yuck) 14. Stories, role-plays of difficult situations that are common. What are biggest stumbling blocks and how to solve or avoid. 15. When modeling enneagram, identify where group is (did it once, which was great). More page 5 areas modeled 16. Enjoyed 17. Enneagram 18. Group practice and demonstrations 19. Would like to see more participation from group 20. More practice with our own teams. 21. All of it. Super interesting. Especially helpful are the scripts you are using. Having a key to remember what to do when. 22. The only thing that wasn’t ideal was my table had 3 people at it. Wished it were fuller. 23. What if I don’t have the conversational and listening skills to conduct these activities? 24. More activity/role modeling in the afternoon. Thank you for 2 great days filled with applicable processes. 25. As uncomfortable as it might be, Id like to see more modeling, observation of group interaction and facilitator practices. 26. Afternoon exercises too a lot of time and energy when energy wasn’t high. 27. I would like to see more of the same. 28. More movement 29. I could use some sample questions that can be used to go through the enneagram. 30. Would like to work more with team. 31. Not sure – new to this process 32. Dealing with difficult situations. Someone not contributing. 33. Hmmmm…. can’t think of anything. It’s a nice balance of training 34. Would like more team time to work on issues. 35. More understanding of group dynamics 36. Doing more of the actual process 37. More ventilation in the room. A lot of words in the beginning – meanings unclear. 38. Having a clear – written agenda and understanding of groups/teams goals and mission 39. Person sitting next to me kept calling me out making me uncomfortable. 40. At times, it seemed like we were asked to role play and then when in debrief it was a “gotcha” on what not to do. 41. A little bit more collaboration with groups. 42. In order to break groups up, count off – gets people feeling safer with same person 43. Relationship building; reflecting on my recent state during intense encounters; also impact on personal life/relationships. Conscious engagement with others. Role playing and your modeling.
