Tom Daley won his first World Champion title at the age of 15. He has won 2 Gold medals at Commonwealth Games and Bronze at the London Olympics. Dives are given scores of 1 to 10 points by several judges. Different competitions use different numbers of judges. This competition has 7 judges and so the highest two scores and the lowest two scores awarded are disregarded and the raw score is determined by adding the 3 remaining scores. The raw score is then multiplied by the degree of difficulty for the dive to give the diver’s final score. Difficulty Rating 3.6 Judge 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Score 9.0 8.0 8.5 7.5 9 8.5 9.0 The scores from which 3 judges are used? What is the raw score? What is the overall dive score? CHALLENGE: For Tom’s next dive he scored 94.5. The degree of difficulty was 3.5. What was his raw score? Did you get it correct? Watch to find out…… CHALLENGE: The raw score was 27 (94.5÷3.5)
