RESEARCH GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK
STUDENT PROJECT REGISTRATION FORM
This registration form must be completed for every student research project that involves human
participants and falls within the Department of Health’s Research Governance Framework (RGF). It must be
seen and approved by the Research Ethics and Governance Officer before potential participants are
approached to take part in any research.
No health or social care research must be carried out unless an appropriate research sponsor has been
identified and has confirmed their agreement to support the project. The University can consider
sponsorship of student research projects on a case-by-case basis.
Before completing the form, students must confirm that their project constitutes ‘research’ rather than ‘audit’
or ‘service evaluation’ according to NHS guidance: http://www.nres.npsa.nhs.uk/applications/apply/is-yourproject-research/
For further information on Research Governance and the RGF, please refer to the Research Services
website.
