Introduction
This is a practical example of the tasks, responsibilities, and authority of end user
representatives on the End User Council relating to information systems within
a hypothetical organization.

Tasks
Bringing end users' requests and problems to the attention of the End User
Council (this can lead to RFCs)
Aligning points of view between the various end users involved
Mutually evaluating all problems, requests, and RFCs submitted
Evaluating the impact of RFCs on working methods and end user processes
Prioritizing proposed RFCs
Informing end users about the progress made with problems, requests, and RFCs
Coordinating, preparing, and conducting acceptance tests
Coordinating end user work activities as part of migrations and implementation
of large-scale changes
Jointly evaluating reports on various information systems
Responsibilities
Acting as the point of contact for the end user organization regarding
problems and requests concerning information systems
Informing end users about developments and other relevant matters
concerning information systems
Active participation in the End User Council. Arranging representation
by persons authorized to take decisions in their absence
Reporting to the End User Council on projects, or developments in end
user departments, affected by a particular information system
Carrying out action items assigned to the end user representative by
the End User Council
Supervising proper data management within end user departments

Authority
Authority to take decisions on end user issues, on behalf of a particular
business unit or process
Authority to accept new releases from a end user's perspective
If appropriate, authority to involve other persons from inside or outside
the organization in the End User Council on an ad hoc basis
Authority to prioritize proposed RFCs together with other members
of the End User Council
