SuccessMaker 9 Reset Utility Guide The Pearson® SuccessMaker 9 (SM9) Reset Utility Guide describes how to run the Reset Utility for customers using SM9. Resetting the database enables customers to start the new school year with a clean database because the procedure deletes student users, groups, student performance data, and optionally teacher users and custom courses. The Reset Utility was created for Windows®, Mac®, and Linux® deployments and works for single-server and multiple-server installations. Resetting the database consists of the following three steps: n Running and Printing the Reports n Backing up the Database n Resetting the Database Details for each step are described in the following sections. If you need help, contact North America Customer Support at https://pearsonnacommunity.force.com/support/s/. Running and Printing the Reports The first step in this process is to print and save a PDF of the Cumulative Performance Report for each course in the manner described below. This information will enable you to make enrollment decisions for the 2017-2018 school year. To accelerate your student enrollment process, Pearson recommends that you run the Cumulative Performance Report using the following options. n Grade level and sorted by student names alphabetically: This option enables teachers to quickly find the ending course levels for their students. n Grade level and sorted by course level: This option enables teachers to quickly see if students are working above or below grade level. It also gives teachers the opportunity to modify the enrollment levels of these students by assigning a custom course. n Teacher groups: This option provides teachers a copy of 2016-2017 performance for their records. SuccessMaker 9 Reset Utility Guide When you print the Cumulative Performance Report by grade level, you must be signed in to SuccessMaker as a System or District Administrator. To print the report: 1. Click Cumulative Performance Report in Reports. 2. Set the parameters for your report, including the grade level. 3. Backing up the Database The second step in the Reset process is to back up the current database and all of the user assets. Back up the current SM9 database. 2. If backups have not been configured, review the Backup Scripts for SuccessMaker Database Knowledgebase article for instructions on backing up the database and UserData. Resetting the Database The final step is to run the Reset Utility to remove all students and their associated assignments, associated groups, and performance data. Optionally, the Reset Utility can also remove all teachers and custom courses. See the following table for specifics on which data is deleted and/or retained during the reset.
