Instructions for Editing Photos for the Web
Using Microsoft Picture Manager
To open Microsoft Picture Manager:
Open Windows Explorer (right mouse click on My Computer – Explore. Then right mouse click on the image
you want to work with then click Open With – Microsoft Office Picture Manager. See what’s highlighted
below.
Once the picture is open click on Picture – Resize, for ease chose the Web – Small (448 x 336 px) to make your
picture smaller. Next click OK.

Now you can save your picture as a new image for placing within your Web page. Click File – Save As and
save your image with a new name. Remember where you have saved this to so you can find it while in
Contribute.
If you need to crop the middle out of an image to only use a portion of it follow these steps. Once the picture is
open click on Picture – Crop, then use the options on the right side of the screen to “play” with the setting to
cut/crop a portion of the picture then click OK.
Next follow the steps to save the picture.
You can edit images too; follow the options on the screen to do that too. For safety you can always do a File
Save As to a new file name so you don’t ruin your original.
