PLACE AND TIME: Nashua Country Club, 6:00pm
Program
Christmas Yankee Swap
President Ray Philippon received acceptance from members on minutes
from the October meeting.
STEVE BURKE WAS THE WINNER OF THE DINNER RAFFLE and Phil
DiMazzio offered to bring dessert (baked by his wife) for the December
meeting.
Treasurer Phil DiMazzio reported that after paying for the fall stocking we
have a treasury balance of $2776.36. We have 49 paid members.
OLD BUSINESS: We held our Fall Fishing Derby on Oct 17 after the
stocking of 154 trout, rainbows and brookies. The fish did not bite as
expected and were difficult to land. However, Bob Broadhurst managed to
land the winner, a 15-inch rainbow, and his next dinner is free.
Phil and Ray mentioned that the porta potti will be removed at the end of
November.
Ray mentioned that a few members had concerns about the newly stocked
trout. They had been fishing and had not seen any fish rising, as well as
not catching any. Ray had Mark Thornton contact our stocker, Jesse, and
he said the fish will be slower to acclimate to the pond because of the
warmer summer/water temps and the brookies are in spawning mode and
may not be actively feeding.
Ray had an email from Matt Laliberte and it was agreed by all to have his
website manager handle our website at a cost is $21.00 per month. Matt
has been in touch with Jason Marcella to switch over the website. Jason,
Wally, and Anne Marie Marcella will be sent final remuneration for their
work on the site.
NEW BUSINESS: Alex presented the slate of new officers for 2016. They
are: President, Ray Philippon; Vice President, Don Wescott; Treasurer,
Phil DiMazzio, Secretary, Harry Mink; Membership Committee, Steve
Burke and Entertainment Committee, to be determined.
A list was passed around for members to mark whether or not they have
old name badges. For those that do, wear them to the next meeting and
for those who do not, Harry Mink will have one made for you. The name
tags will be collected after each meeting and then brought back and forth
by Harry for each meeting.
Burr Tupper spoke to members about Kids Camp held in the Pittsburgh
area for 13 to 16 year youngsters who are taught fly fishing and
conservation. His thought was to have the Church give us names of
eligible kids who would like the opportunity to go and Tom Ryan suggested
that we actually sponsor one child and send him/her to camp.
The program for December will be our Annual YANKEE SWAP. The cost
of the meal will be $25.00 and your choices for dinner are the same: beef,
chicken or fish. Pre-meal hors d’oeurves will be provided courtesy of your
memberships to the club. You may opt out of participation in the swap and
still come to dinner. The value of your gift should be $25 max. Please wrap
it and place it under the tree. It was suggested that members refrain from
buying gift certificates because it makes for a boring swap. Ray suggested
that members still go to Charley’s (Evening Sun) but buy a gift instead of a
gift certificate so you have something we all want (buy a gift that you like,
you can always choose that for YOUR gift …)
Dues may be paid now, $75.00. All dues must be paid by March
meeting 2016. Your check can be sent to Phil DiMazzio, 17 Pilgrim
Circle, Nashua, 03063.
Respectfully submitted,
Brenda Philippon, Secretary
