Mapping the Generic Competency Framework for Registered Nurses and Midwives to the Knowledge and Skills (KSF) Band 5
Gateways for Nurses caring for Adults.
The generic competency framework identifies the competencies the Trust requires registered nurses and midwives to achieve to
ensure safe and effective practice. The competencies stated in the framework have been mapped to the KSF outlines to enable
staff to use them as evidence of development for the KSF performance review.
The competency levels to be achieved are identified against the subset and full outlines.
Band 5: Staff Nurse
Job Purpose: Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering effective quality nursing care following a family focused model of practice
and ensuring the work area runs smoothly and efficiently.
