 NCEF Recertification Scheme The criteria for recertifying your qualification are as follows:‐ All recipients of the National Certificate in Exercise & Fitness: Level 1 (awarded in 2006 and before) is required to recertify their qualification every five years by accumulating 1,000 Continuing Education Credits (CEC’S) for each five year period. In order to recertify and bring your qualification up to date, you must submit the following to the NCEF Head Office:‐ • Copies of all health and fitness related certificates received since graduating with the NCEF. CEC’s are awarded for health and fitness related qualifications/workshops etc. obtained since graduating from the NCEF/PEAI Level 1 or since last date of recertification. • NCEF passport book with 1,000 Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s) for each five year period ‐ A replacement passport can be purchased for €10.50 (incl. P&P). An NCEF passport is a little book that was issued to graduates where all courses and workshops undertaken are logged and assigned CEC’s. • Copy of your current Occupational First Aid (OFA) certificate (150 CEC’s awarded) It must be Occupational First Aid. Basic First Aid or AED will not suffice. Contact your local Sports Partnership, the Irish Red Cross, Order of Malta or Denise Kelly on 086‐8474444 for details on upcoming OFA courses in your area. You can also check www.ofaaa.com for a certified provider in your area. • Recertification fee €55.00. This fee is waived to current Fitness Professionals Ireland members and they also receive 200 CECS annually towards recertification. The NCEF National Register of Exercise Professionals (NNR) was re‐launched as Fitness Professionals Ireland in 2011. FPI is a non‐
profit, independent public register which recognises the qualifications and expertise of fitness professionals in Ireland. The annual membership fee is €45.00 and payment can be made by providing your visa/debit card details on the Fitness Professionals Ireland application form. Taking this course will update your knowledge and skills and is an award for life so you will no longer be required to recertify. Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness Upgrade course Recertification Scheme The NCEF became an academic affiliate of the University of Limerick in June 2006. All NCEF programmes of study are now part of Certificate, Diploma and Degree programmes in Exercise & Health Fitness of the University of Limerick. These awards do NOT require recertification. We are now delighted to inform you that the NCEF plans to offer NCEF Level 1 holders currently due to recertify a unique opportunity to upgrade their NCEF Level 1 to the University of Limerick accredited Certificate in Exercise and Health Fitness (CEHF) by completing an upgrade programme plus associated requirements and assessments. NEW OPTION 1: Complete the Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness (CEHF) Upgrade Course and obtain a University of Limerick accredited AWARD for LIFE By upgrading your current NCEF Level 1 to CEHF status you will have the benefit of: • Holding the only solely focused Exercise & Health Fitness Professional Instructor, university accredited qualification in Ireland which is offered as Stage 1 of the Diploma in Exercise & Health Fitness (DEHF). • Holding an award for life that does NOT require recertification. • Broadening your opportunities for recognition, access, transfer and progression within the Irish educational system, within Europe and worldwide.
