Press Release -1- Gira: Innovations, further developments and optimisations The new face of building technology Once again, Gira is presenting a wide range of clever solutions for improved convenience, higher security, and more efficient use of energy at the world's leading trade fair for lighting and building technology. The electrical industry is anxiously awaiting new building control and door communication product innovations, and a new, highly-elegant switch range. Gira E3: carrying on the System 55 success story With Gira E3, the solution provider is moving forward with exceptionally responsive switch ranges, complementing its range of modern building technologies. In deliberate contrast to the linear, strict form of the E2 line, Gira is pursuing a soft design with the E3. Gentle, rounded contours and the soft-touch surfaces of the cover frames give modern building technology an attractive, contemporary look. This blends well with the distinctive colour scheme of the cover frame: an exclusive collection of subtle and warm greys and browns, developed by Gira using the NCS colour system (Natural Colour System ®© ). A multitude of individual design variants resulting from the combination of cover and carrier frames as well as inserts in anthracite or pure glossy white. Since the Gira E3 was developed for the System 55, it already includes more than 300 intelligent building technology functions. On the other hand, a new chapter in Gira's System 55 success story will be added with this switch range. After all, the idea continues to prove its worth: the striking square with 55 mm edge length is the standard size of all inserts. At the same time, it serves as the operational window, not only for existing building functions, but for future ones as well. This ensures that the Gira System 55 will meet changing market requirements even in the future. What makes it so unique? On the one hand, the result of the five insert colours together with the six compatible Gira switch Press Release -2- ranges and their colour and material variants is an array of combinations, thus maximising design freedom--suitable for all furnishing needs and every style of living. On the other hand, the System 55 is based on a stringent system logic, which, despite the wide variety and high complexity, results in a surprisingly slim range, allowing for more efficient stock-keeping and high availability, to the delight of planners, tradesmen and wholesalers. Available starting 10/2016 Gira ZigBee ® Light Link Smart lighting systems based on ZigBee ® Light Link are currently very popular, particularly in retrofitting. Such systems can be controlled with the Gira control element for ZigBee ® Light Link, blending seamlessly into the Gira switch ranges in terms of function and design. Users are therefore no longer dependent on their smartphone, for example, to switch and control dimming and colour features to create atmospheric lighting. Now they can rely on the range of Gira designs, in particular the easy-to-use Gira remote control, flexible and quickly installed anywhere or even for mobile use. This enables the user to control all important functions of ZigBee ® Light Link-compatible lights, from dimming and switching of individual lights and light groups through calling up entire lighting scenarios to programming functions such as the formation of light groups, control of colour or colour temperature and scene programming – without manufacturer-specific gateways or bridges. Available starting 08/2016 Gira X1: Mobile control of building technology without the Gira HomeServer Press Release -3- Having a smart home means being able to control it using your smartphone. That is the most common wish of homeowners and those modernising buildings when it comes to intelligent building technology. For the visualisation and control of a KNX system via mobile devices, the Gira HomeServer was a must until now. With the new Gira X1 server, it will be possible in the future to visualise and automate different functions in a building. See who is at home, switch lights on and off or optimise your home temperature settings, whether at home or on the move. Gira X1 is the foundation for an easy and inexpensive KNX installation. It can be controlled using any mobile device that runs on iOS and Android. Due to its compact design and top hat rail mounting, it is installed quickly and compactly. Announcement of delivery: with completion of field tests Gira G1 with WLAN and 22 languages The Gira G1 is already recognised by tradesmen as a compact, powerful and versatile control centre for the KNX system. All functions can be conveniently controlled by touching or gesturing on the brilliant multi-touch display with a resolution of 480 × 800 pixels. With Release 2, the Gira G1 now also offers wireless connection via IP to building technology through WLAN to suit any situation in the building. Until now, the Gira G1 could only be connected to the building technology via LAN cable. This connection via LAN is still recommended in new buildings or in buildings with existing cabling. But it's a different story for renovations and modernisations where no new cabling is to be installed. Here, a connection via Wi-Fi and an appropriate interface--which can be a KNX IP router or the Gira DCSIP-gateway--is the right choice. It's simple, quick and clean, and does not require any structural work. The WLAN model is available in WLAN 230V and WLAN 24V versions. Press Release -4- However, due to the transmission properties in wireless networks, KNX telegrams may get lost. To ensure faultless KNX communication in a wireless network at all times, a Gira KNX IP router (version v3 and above) is therefore required, specially equipped with an additional “reliable KNX communication” function. This will guarantee flawless communication even in heavy wireless network traffic. Even when connected via WLAN, the G1 remains a true all-rounder with regard to building technology and can be used for a variety of purposes: switching or dimming lights, adjusting entire lighting scenarios, movin g blinds and controlling numerous functions via timers. In combination with the Gira push-button sensor 3 or a KNX CO 2 sensor the Gira G1 can also be used as a room temperature auxiliary unit. With the integration of the free Gira online weather service, weather forecasts can even be called up with the G1. In combination with the Gira DCS IP gateway and a door station video, the Gira G1 can also be used as a home station. When the doorbell rings, the device automatically switches to door intercom mode. Another new feature that will be shown at Light + Building is the user interface, now offered in 22 languages. Gira G1 with WLAN: available Gira KNX RF System: simple cabling, easily retrofitted Cable-based bus systems such as KNX have advantages when it comes to sophisticated solutions in building technology. One essential condition is precise planning; subsequent extensions of the system were previously complex and therefore expensive. With the Gira KNX RF system, that has changed. This means that existing systems can easily be retrofitted without walls having to be prised open. The KNX RF/TP media coupler forms the link between a wired KNX TP installation and its wireless extension with KNX RF. For new buildings, the Gira KNX RF system is suitable whenever the structural conditions at specific locations do not allow for cable-based Press Release -5- installation or a subsequent flexible control of the KNX installation is desired anyway. The battery-operated KNX RF push button sensors can be mounted anywhere as wall-mounted wireless transmitters where controls are required, regardless of the availability of power and bus cables. KNX RF remote controls make the control "mobile". The corresponding KNX function can be triggered by remote control from anywhere in the house. Gira KNX RF uses 100% of the universal KNX standard "KNX RF1. R S Mode "; it allows access to the full functionality of the KNX system. This means that all KNX products available on the market can be seamlessly integrated into the system. Another advantage is that the KNX system with coupled wireless connection reduces the wiring effort considerably if the last routes are bridged to the KNX devices in each room wirelessly. This saves time and therefore expense. Via the KNX RF USB data interface in the form of a USB key the electrician can access a KNX installation wirelessly via radio from a PC or laptop, for addressing, programming and diagnosing via ETS. 5 KNX KNX KNX KNX RF remote control: available RF push button sensors: available RF USB data interface: available RF/TP media coupler and RF repeater: available starting 04/2016 Gira Design Configurator: now with Augmented Reality Function Anyone who is planning a new construction or a renovation wants to know what it will look like in the end.
