Reading Festival/Book Week
Don’t forget that next week is our wonderful Reading Festival. We will be starting the week with our
Character Dressing Up day on Monday 4th March – each class has set their own theme, linked of course
to characters from books. There will also be a Book Fair in school on Monday: the children will be visiting
the Book Fair during the day, and if you would like to send money in for them to spend at the Book Fair, or
ask to have a book reserved, then please send it in the Book Fair envelope that has been sent home with this
newsletter (or in addition to it if you receive the newsletter electronically!) The Book fair will also be open
for parents, so please do take the opportunity to come in after school with your children. There is always a
great range of reasonably priced books, and the school benefits too as we get commission of 20% on sales,
which usually means some lovely books for the classrooms!
There are 3 evening events for the Reading Festival – Campfire Stories for KS2 (Tuesday, 6.30-7.00pm),
Bedtime Stories for Foundation and KS1 (Wednesday 6.30-7.00pm), and The Film of the Book showing for
all children and parents (Thursday 6.30-8.30pm). There are limited numbers for the Tuesday Camp Fire
Stories with Mr Watkins, and parents will need to come with their children to collect a ticket although they
do not need to come along or stay for the stories on the night. Tickets are available form the school office.
Parents are asked to stay with the younger children for the Bedtime Stories, and also for the Film showing as
this is planned as a family event. The children have been voting today to choose which Roald Dahl film
they want us to show. Tickets for both events are available from the school office from 28th February. In
addition to these events, individual classes are inviting parents in to share stories and the class teachers will
let you know about these class events directly.
(Please note - Gym Club has been moved from Monday moved to Wednesday 6th March for that group)
Facebook
Please can we ask that if a parent uses a phone/camera to take a picture of their child during an assembly or
