• The interests of authors and corporations are often different.
• Many non-copyright ways to support authors. e.g. library purchasing,
budgetary support of arts, collective bargaining, visas etc
• Exceptions and limitations support human rights of authors as can
provide statutory licences enhancing earnings
• Creators are not just professional artists
• Exceptions support human rights – freedom of expression and right to
participate in a cultural life and science.
• A problem that protections mandatory but exceptions optional.
